My Goals and Experiences My name is Brittany Surface. My dad is in the military therefore we have moved around a lot. I was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina in a military hospital. However in the year of 2001 we moved to South Carolina and have been fortunate enough to still be here. At one point the Army transferred my dad to Chicago for 2 years while we were still in South Carolina. As a family we decided that he would go alone and then he would return to SC. SC is an awesome place to call home it is absolutely beautiful and have allowed us to meet some extraordinary people! I have always been taught to do my best and to strive for academic excellence. My short term goals are to pass my classes with a 3.0 or higher. Grow closer in my walk with God, and build relationships that will last a lifetime. My goals for my life are to graduate from the teacher education program and then later to become certified in special needs education. I feel God had led me to this because of all the trials and challenges I have had to work through during my life. I have struggled from a lot of medical problems, some of which affect my ability to use my limbs properly and took almost a year to diagnose. At one point just over a year ago I was unable to write or do almost anything by myself. I would drink my meals instead of eating simply because I wanted to be independent . So because of this I understand what it feels like to be misunderstood and to have to rely on people to help me with things that should be easy. I want to make a difference in their life and make sure that they know that they aren't stupid, they are special and God created them just the way they are supposed to be. No child should have to leave or choose not to attend school just because of their mental or physical disabilities! Just a few months ago I thought I was going to be unable to attend college much less stay on campus! While other
