My Experience Paper For College
Writing papers for college has been a new experience for me and I like the challenge. I have tried extremely hard to work on some of my down falls on writing but I have not mastered them all yet. I can come up with good ideas for a paper and develop a good paragraph. I need to work on improving paragraph unity, transitions, and word choices. My papers are not anywhere near perfect yet but I am working towards it. I like to write papers when the topic is given to me and my ideas get to be endless. When I am given a topic on a paper so many ideas pop into my head and I want to write them all down. I can think of so many different ideas for one certain topic and it makes it so fun to write about each idea. I love to write about things I know

When it comes to writing papers, I usually have a difficult time getting started. I sometimes have trouble with certain topics, getting the general concept, and then turning it into a writing that will get my point across. I feel as if I’m not very creative with my words as I should be without sounding so scattered brained and lost. I was a little nervous when entering English 1102, after having such a difficult time in English 1101 online. At first I did feel at ease but once we got to doing research on a particular food and the articles, I did have some challenging moments. In in the end I did pull my works together and I plan on sharing some of my reflections while taking a look back on a couple of my papers.…

Today I am going to discuss the steps I take to write a paragraph. Before I do anything, I make sure I have a quiet area to work in and a clear mind so my writing process begins smoothly. I sit in front of my laptop and begin writing what I would like to talk about, which is called discovering and brainstorming. Then after I have done that I start narrowing down what I want to write about such as: Topic sentence and supportive details. After this, I usually go on to compose a rough draft pretty quickly. By drafting what I have written, It allows me to take out the things that strike me as worth keeping or not. Then after I have done that I revise the draft by rearranging ideas and reshaping sentences to make clearer connections. Carefully after examining the paper to see that it contains any errors of grammar, spelling, or punctuation for the last time I write a final paper. In conclusion, the four stages of writing like discovering, drafting, revising, editing and proofreading has help me and guided me to write effectively.…

Over the course of the past three months, I have had the distinct pleasure of testing my writing capabilities through the Introduction to College Writing course. I have always had a passion for writing in all forms, but in previous years, the course work in grade-level English classes have been unchallenging of my writing ability. I have been heavily involved in Bonneville High School’s newspaper through journalism since my freshman year. This allowed me to strengthen my writing capability as I was drafting throughout the entire school year. I have never truly had to apply myself until I enrolled in English 101. Since the beginning of the class, I have faced various hardships while writing essays in unfamiliar styles, such as drafting a response to a scholarly article and synthesizing opposing perspectives. I have learned that I am more than capable in writing in different styles and that all of my work will be quality content regardless of the topic. I overcame the obstacles that have challenged me, and my essays exhibit that I am fully prepared to continue my work in English 102.…

The editing process is usually more straightforward, and I’m sure many of you would agree that getting those first few words on paper (or screen) is one of the hardest parts of writing. Procrastination has also been my major drawback in this semester. However, your proper guidance and suggestions have helped me control and limit my level of procrastination. In the beginning of the semester I had only basic knowledge of essay, but after this class I came to know how can writing be a precious tool to student with proper citation skills, grammatical skills, sentence structure as well as proper use of diction and…

Writing, something that has never befriended me, will always be an obstacle in my life. For me, it’s difficult to just sit down at a table and write something interesting and creative. I try to do so every time I am assigned a essay, and sometimes it turns out to be successful, but most of the time it is unsuccessful. Every time I am given a written assignment, I go through the same routine: I sit at the table and stare at my computer with my fingers on the keyboard. I have noticed that I come up with a lot of ideas, but I focus mainly on how to structure them while writing. In three articles written by Anna Lomott, Marie Foley and Donald M. Murray, they all discuss different strategies on how to draft, structure and revise an essay. They all have taught me a better way on how to make my writing strategy more successful in college than it was before.…

As a writer, there are things that I do well, but there are also things I could improve on to make my writing better. I’m pretty good at getting my point across, and getting people to understand what I’m trying to say. Another thing I’m good at is just writing the paper. Once I get started on a paper it is very easy for me to just keep writing until I’m done with it. However, when doing this I tend to not use the best grammar and be too wordy with my writing. I can definitely fix these issues, and continue to build on the things that I do well.…

    An Advanced Writer

I am able to create text that flows fairly well and am able to address the prompt in creative and interesting ways. However, I have always taken the easy route when it comes to writing by basically skipping the entire writing process and only writing a single draft for each paper, and turning it in. When I was an honors English student in high school I was able to get away with writing out a single draft the night before an assignment was due and turning it in, often without proofreading it first, because the writing expectations for freshmen and sophomores are not very high. When I became an AP English Language and Composition student I quickly learned that my writing method, or lack thereof, was not going to earn me easy A’s with my teachers, so I began to have my peers read over my drafts and check for errors. Suffice to say, there were many errors present in my writing. I tend to struggle with punctuation mistakes- I am still confused about the proper way to use colons, semicolons and dashes- and I am guilt of using quite a few run-on sentences on my…

    Final English Essay

My English teacher during my senior year of high school constantly preached, “You guys better listen up and work hard because high school writing is easy compared to college writing.” When I heard this I thought ‘great, I already dread writing and think it is challenging, now it is going to be even more intense in college.’ As I picked my classes for the second semester of this year, I knew I had to pick English 101 and I was not looking forward to it at all. I was a pretty decent writer in high school, but my English teacher made it seem like college writing was only for people who were brilliant enough to go to a prestigious Ivy League school, like Harvard. As this semester went on and I beginning writing papers, I noticed that I did not fear writing as much because I was not that bad at it. Each paper got easier to write for me because I had an awesome teacher and my confidence had increased dramatically by getting better grades on each progressing paper that I wrote. I believe from learning the skills of this course and careful consideration of the objectives outlining this course, I grew from being sacred about writing to learning to accept the difficult challenge of writing as a college student.…

It wasn’t until senior year when I realized how big of a problem it was that I cared so little about my skills as a writer; this is a life skill I need to develop. I took into consideration all corrections and considerations on all papers I wrote, especially my college essays. I spent hours at my desk staring at a Word document on my computer, working my brain which was trying to resist thinking as a writer. Displaying my ideas in solid words and in a decently organized manner, I realized I still had the potential to hold the title of “writer” (not a particularly good one).…

Thinking of my previous learning experience, writing remained the weak spot of my English skills. I could still remember the time we were asked to write an article about “My hometown” in the first LANG001 class. I was too panicked to think of anything to write and it turned out even worse when I looked around and saw all my classmates were writing smoothly. In this semester, I will make effort to improve my organization of paragraphs, such as coherent and cohesive paragraphs and clear controlling ideas.…
