My Experience As A Graduate Assistant
With experience in the development, distribution, and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data as well as a deep commitment to higher education, I am thrilled to apply for the Research Assistant Intern position at the Center for Inspired Teaching. From my first position after college as an AmeriCorps State member to my current role as a Graduate Assistant for the Applied Research and Evaluations Team at James Madison University, this position perfectly merges my skills, background, and passion.

My experience as an AmeriCorps member furthered my interest in the multifaceted field of education. Serving as a member allowed for me assist students in the local community in their efforts to advance education policy within the Shelby County School system. Additionally, I spent time volunteering with Stand for Children, which provided me the opportunity to hear the voices of parents with school-age children, whom they thought were not receiving the quality education they should have received. From these experiences, I thought about the implementation of educational policy and came to the conclusion that teachers are at the forefront of the education system and that by ensuring that teachers are properly trained, we are ensuring educational success for students.

This position has also provided me with ample opportunities to serve as the lead evaluator on a grant awarded to the local Big Brothers Big Sisters. Consequently, I strongly believe the combination of these, in addition, to my commitment to education, makes me a well qualified candidate for this

Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…

As a first-generation student, I am significantly influenced by the Student Affairs staff at my undergraduate institution. When I arrived at Ramapo College, I quickly realized I was not prepared for college-level work, if it were not for the Educational Opportunity Fund Program, I would have felt lost and would have struggled both academically and financially. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have had many Student Affairs professionals guide me to academic success and personal development. As a result, I made the conscious effort to work with the minority students on campus and accepted the position as a Resident Program Assistant for the EOF program. I worked with a diverse population of students where the majority came from low-income communities who had the potential to perform college level coursework. While…

For instance, as of this year I became a member of HOPE, a club that promotes suicide prevention through education and awareness. Being a part of this club has given me the opportunity to motivate anyone who is going through a difficult time or just needs someone…
