Dear LLD2 Reading Committee:

Throughout my semester of English I have improved a lot by becoming a better writer. I have learned how to organize my ideas by planning out the key points of the article provided. I have improved on my vocabulary in a way that makes my sentences more fluent than how they used to be in LLD1. I have also changed some strategies like revising my own essay by reading it out loud by myself or having a partner reading it back to me because that’s a easy way to catch small errors that you might not catch by reading it independently. I have also increase my strategies on reading articles and finding the authors thesis as well as finding the main points that they use to support there thesis. I also learned on how authors use tone to pervasive the audience in getting there attention more towards the topic and doing above research on the topic. This made me improve my writing by adding a tone towards my essays that way I can get the readers attention and they would want to continue reading my essay. I learned that when doing reports I should read books to find get the support to back up my thesis statement and make my thesis strong and keep my reader interested by reflecting to historical facts that might have happen in the past. I got a good understanding of how books are more detailed and have more information rather than an article. A book has a story to tell and gives more and it address the author more rather than an article that talks about a topic or event and you having to do some more outside information to back up that article and getting a better understanding of it. A book is helpful in a lot of ways because it goes in deeper about the subject and what it wants you to know like “The Color of Water” the author refers to identity. In a book you also have much more connections to it than an article because they are long and you get to visualize what is actually happening in the book, you also get to predict what is going to

My Experience with English Before going to the University, I had the background of learning English over nine years ago when my parents encouraged me to go to an English Institute, and when the following year I had some English classes at High School. My experience with English in both places was very different from each other. On the one hand, I had studied English at an Institute for seven years, but when I first entered this Institute, I found that I could barely say a word. First of all, we…

September 2014 My Experience in English Language I am not a professional reader, nor am I a professional writer. As a matter of fact, I do not like writing at all especially in English, but then writing is a part of life. Since English is my second language, I always have a hard time writing and reading in English. However, I have had to learn English to survive in this big country. I was born in Thailand. I wrote, read, and spoke in the Thai language almost all of my life. I had English class in Thailand…

My experiences in this six-week English Composition-I class have been challenging and rewarding, as well as educating and developing. As far as challenging, I have only been able to attend half of the classes and therefore have only learned half as much as I could have learned otherwise. Although extenuating circumstances have kept me from attending every class, it has been a pleasure sitting under the teaching of the course instructor. As far as rewarding, I have been able to gain knowledge, understanding…

MY EXPERIENCE WRITING IN ENGLISH I really like to write essays even though if it is in my native language or in English language. I started writing in English a couple of years ago, but I had never written an essay in English when I was living in my country. Writing in a foreign language has been a really good experience, because it is funny when I try to make a phrase. First, I have an idea in Spanish. However, I have to write it in English, the confusion starts when I try to translate my previous…

I approached this semester with dread. Most of my life I have made a conscious effort to avoid writing classes at all costs. Not for lack of ability, rather a lack of interest. Thus was my mentality entering into my semester of English Composition. The semester started off the same as most. I go into it telling myself that I will stay caught up this time. I won’t allow myself to do assignments at the last minute. As usual these promises are quickly broken. I work eight to twelve hours a day and…

My experience with English By: Victor Yakimov The first day of school is always a rush. There’s meeting new people, not knowing where to go, and saying hi to teachers who act nice at first, but will inevitably get fed up with your childish behavior and go crazy. Yes, first days are a mix of happiness and dread but the most hectic is the very first day ever. My own experience with the first was probably the worst. Being brought up in a Russian household the only language I knew…

English has never been my favorite subject. In fact, it has always been my least favorite subject. Going through school, I often wondered why I needed to do so many English related tasks, and in wondering, I learned to detest the subject without realizing its future benefits. Why do I dislike English so much? Is it such a dreadful thing to learn? Isn't learning how to correctly write and interpret the English language important? Well, no and yes. No, English is not a dreadful thing to…

this in these are my semester goals. I have already partially fulfilled one of them as I am on time. I have turned a new leaf in the book of my life and now am writing the story anew. I am doing all assignments and homework earlier than assigned. A purely social goal, I am talking and interacting more with other students in my classes. The quiet…
