It is always strange and amusing to see the amount of personal information that people post online for the world to see. They post anything that goes through their mind, their feelings, their wants and needs, their plans, etc. I personally feel like not everything needs to be shared on social media. Hundreds of people don’t need to know what you’re eating, your current location, what is going through your mind, or how you’re currently feeling. Some people have more than a thousand friends or people following them, and most of the times, they do not personally know half of them.…

Respect for each another is imperative in a friendship. Everyone has secrets, so one should not press for answers when the other is clearly unwilling to share the information. If the person wants to share the secret, it is important to be a good listener. One should be responsible by never compromising a friend’s trust and revealing it to other people. In addition to being considerate of another’s privacy, a good friend should not be too judgmental. Although one should never be afraid to contradict a friend, as everyone is allowed to have his own opinion, he should be mindful of the friend’s feelings.…

“Self-disclosure is not simply providing information to another person. Instead, scholars define self-disclosure as sharing information with others that they would not normally know or discover. Self-disclosure involves risk and vulnerability on the part of the person sharing the information.” (Brochers, 1999) How much do we actually know about ourselves? Do others know us better than we do? According to Tim Brochers (1999), The Johari Window is a useful way of showing us how much we know. There are four panes to the Johari Window; Open Pane, Hidden Pane, Blind Pane, and Unknown Pane. Open Pane is all information based on physical appearance, Hidden Pane is the information only you know, Blind Pane is the information you do not realize or see but others do, and Unknown Pane is the information that nobody knows, including yourself. According to Richard West and Lynn Turner (2006), self-disclosures occur between two people in a relationship, they are reciprocal, occur in the context of time, and we disclose a great deal in few interactions.…

My family and I had taken a trip to Mexico for Christmas and New Year’s vacation in 2009. My father decided that we should drive to Mexico instead of flying because it would be an experience to remember. I wasn’t too thrilled about being in the car for 2 days (36 hours) with my brother and sister because my sister can talk for hours and my brother snores so loud that no one can get sleep.…

Lying out in a cabana by the beach, overlooking the crystal clear, blue water and feeling the cool ocean breeze run through my hair. My imagination had taken over my mind, as my mother told my sisters and me that we were going to Cancun for our very first family vacation. I was thrilled to say the least; my joy had no boundaries as I expressed my excitement for this trip. I had never been on any vacation before so I was determined to make this one memorable. My only focus on this trip was to have an amazing time in Cancun. Never once did I expect to meet all the obstacles that came along with this trip: flight cancellations, long layovers, and a late arrival. However, good or bad, nothing was going to ruin this vacation for me and I was going to make this trip, one for the books.…

    Self Disclosure

The way I feel about self disclosure, is that it is a way of gaining information about another person, it is one way to know about how another person thinks and feels. When it comes to my friends, If they are new friends and I have known them for a short time i don’t really want them to disclose so much information about themselves to me since I don’t know them very well. I feel like once they disclose something to me It is kind of implied that I have to also disclose something to them which I do not really want to do. When it comes to my family in general I find they are some members of my family that I would not trust very well to share personal information to them, If that family member is someone that I trust and have known for a very long time Its very easy for me to share information with them. Since I always feel like disclosing is a weakness sometimes, I mainly feel very comfortable disclosing more to my mother, since disclosing dependson trust and it does help and make me feel better about myself and my relationship and it helps me and my mother understand each other more When it comes to my relationship with my boyfriend I…

    Should Teenagers Date?

    • 389 Words

The first argument in favour of this issue is that teenagers can share their feelings to their girlfriend or boyfriend. You may say that they can share it with friends instead of girlfriend or boyfriend, but to me, I think that girlfriend or boyfriend is their closest friend. Teenagers will share their deepest feeling to them. It is hard to tell friends that they are having lots of problems, but to their girlfriend, they can talk about everything. So teenagers can express their feelings.…
