My Dream Car
Dodge Charger, My Dream Car
American Intercontinental University
2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 2dr Coupe-$50,895
Financing rate is 4.12%
R= 0.0212
Time estimated for the interest rate given is 5 years
T=5 years interest = sale price*rate*time, (I = prt).
I = 50,895*0.0212*5
I = 5394.87
Total cost = (sale price*rate)time + Sale Price
C = (P*R)T + Sale Price
C = (50,895*0.0212)5+50,895
C = 56289.87
Model the total cost as a linear function, with time as the independent variable:
F(t) = (pr)t + p.
F(5) = (50,895*0.0212)5+50,895
Divide the total cost by the number of months, to determine the monthly payment.
56289.87/60 = 938.16
Repeat steps 4 & 5 to determine the cost of the loan if the interest rate had not been reduced by 2% – how much money did you save? interest = sale price*rate*time
I = 50895*0.0412*5
I = 10484.37
C=(P*R)T+P
C=(50,895*0.0412)5+50,895
C = 61379.37
61379.37 - 56289.87 = $5,089.50 The car of my dreams has always been a Dodge Charger with all the add ons. Starting out at $50,895, with the price including all of the add on features that I would like to have on my car (Cars.com, 2013). According to the ad, if I were to bring the interest rate that I was given of 4.12%, my interest rate would drop down to 2.12% which would give me a great deal of savings (Bankrate.com, 2012). The cost of the loan would have been a regular price of $61,379.37 at any car dealership. However, with the ad that was posted I found that I would be able to save $5,089.50, bringing the total cost of my car loan down to $56,289.87. At the rate of this car loan, my monthly payment would be $938.16. I feel bad for anyone that actually has a payment of this high monthly payment.

    Technology is pervading all levels of mathematics teaching and learning in our modern world, bringing ever more sharply into focus the change from traditional pencil and paper learning to a mixture of calculator, computer and pencil and paper learning environments. Currently the loan has 25 years remaining. Therefore to find out the P&I payment, you would plug in 300 for N (25x12), 5.75% for I, 0 for FV, and $112,242.47 for PV, and then press PMT which gives you the $706.12. However, we want to find out how much more money they have to pay to pay off the loan in 20 years instead of 25. Therefore change N to 240 (20x12) instead of 300. Then press PMT and we should get $788.04. Next, subtract the P&I payment they are making now (706.12) from $788.04, which tells you they need to pay $81.92 extra towards the principal each month to have the loan paid off in 20 years instead of 25.…

    The Red Convertible is the story about the trials and tribulations of two brothers, Lyman and Henry, and their red convertible. The story covers the relationship between the brothers from the rime when they buy the red convertible to the time when Henry and the convertible drown in a raging river (Dorris, Edrich and Chavkin 14). In the story, the red convertible is used to symbolize the ups and downs of the two brothers’ relationship. The car has come to signify their relationship to the extent that the state of the car can paint a good picture of the kind of relationship Henry and Lyman have. When the convertible is in a prime condition, their relationship is also in a prime condition, but when the convertible is whacked up, their relationship is also ruined. In the end, the red convertible “dies” alongside Henry and their relationship in a raging river (Dorris, Edrich and Chavkin 15). In Edrich’s story the recurring themes of love, death, poverty, trauma and loneliness are brought to bear as each brother deals with each of these themes.…

    The “American Dream”, an idea that success, freedom and equality exists according to each man's capabilities regardless of social status and ethnicity, is one that appeals to every American from all walks of life. After the Great Depression, the importance of realizing success, freedom and equality became a priority in the lives of many, including the Native Americans. The belief in the “American Dream” was deeply embedded in their hearts in a quest to dispel stereotypes about their community such as being poverty- stricken and primitive warriors who belonged in the jungles as they began to assimilate into the urban culture of a white dominated society. However, as one examines the American society today, such stereotypes still exists and may have been influential in the opportunities presented to the Native American communities or the lack thereof. In the story “The Red Convertible”, Louise Erdrich employs images associated with freedom as ironies in order to argue that the “American Dream” is a farce as the stereotypes attached to individual communities, in this case, the Native American communities will never be broken and the believe in such dreams will eventually lead to life-altering and undesirable outcomes.…

    When I researched payment options I learned that if I paid the car off in 5 years or 60 months, with an interest rate of 6% a year my monthly payment would be $299.25, however I will have paid a total of $2476.15 in interest. If I paid the car off in 5 years with a lower interest rate of 2.79% my monthly payment would be $276.70, and I would pay a total of $1122.71 in interest, this would lower my overall cost. As I furthered my research on payment plans, I learned that if I was to pay my car off in 4 years or 48 months with an interest rate of 2.79% my monthly payment would be $341.16 and I would still have to pay a total of $897.76 in interest. I also learned that if I paid my car off in 4 years with an interest rate of 6% my monthly payment would be $363.52 and I would pay $1970.19 in overall interest. By comparing several payment options I learned that by choosing the shortest payment schedule along with the lowest interest rate, I would be able to…

    In most cases the economy is in a state of expansion. The economy is almost always constantly growing due to population change and other factors. However, we must measure the change in growth rate to effectively measure if our economy is contracting or expanding. To measure the growth rate of the economy we measure the positive or negative change in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). We use the GDP from the previous year, subtract this year’s GDP, and then we divide that by this year’s GDP. The United States Commerce Department reported that the United States economy grew at an annual pace of 1.3 percent in the second quarter of 2012 (Lowrey, 2012). Earlier this year the government agency reported a rate of 2 percent and 3 percent at the end of 2011 (Lowrey, 2012). Using this data we can clearly see that our economy is currently contracting. Typically a GDP in the 2-3 percent range is good and will keep inflation in check while allowing the economy to grow at a sustainable pace. According to the website InflationData.com (2012) the current inflation rate in the United States is 1.76%. This number is representative of the low GDP numbers we are seeing. If GDP rises, we can expect inflation to rise.…
