My Behavior Modification Project Observation Report
The goal of my behavior modification project was to reduce procrastination. I wanted to focus on procrastination to make my assignments easier. I used a journal to measure my procrastination. I recorded data for two weeks. The first week was baseline data, and the second week was treatment data. In my journal I wrote down each time I was doing an assignment, and put the name of the assignment along with the date it was due next to it. During the baseline week I was procrastinating a lot since I wasn’t doing anything yet to change my behavior. Most of the time I was doing my assignments the day it was due or the night before. There were a couple of times when I started the assignment two days before. I feel like I made progress in the treatment

Now what is procrastination you may ask? Procrastination could be described as an act of putting something off and delaying it until the last minute. Unless you’re like me you may be asking why would you want to do that? Why deal with the stress of doing the assignment last…

Mrs. Blockhouse, the principal at Bertha Barber Elementary School, called the offices of “Hope Is Here” with a request for an intervention plan. Bertha Barber has an 8 year old, Caucasian boy, named David, with whom teachers and aides have described as having “aggressive and disruptive” behaviors. Aggressive behavior is behavior that causes physical or emotional harm to others, or threatens to (Gabbey, 2013). Disruptive behavior is defined as behaviors that hamper the ability of instructors to teach and students to learn (Disruptive Classroom Behaviors, n.d.). These behaviors have been on going for 6 months. David was an ideal…

Behavior Progress: Since William’s last court review, William has demonstrated some difficulty complying with managing his behavior and accepting his placement in the program. After his most recent court hearing, William was highly frustrated and presented a negative attitude towards his continuation in the program. William has verbalized that he was “sick of the program and everyone in it”. William’s frustration and negative disposition has been a major focus during individual sessions with staff. On March 13, 2016, William was observed by staff swinging a broom like a baseball bat during clean up and received a sanction. William was then asked to go to his room in which he initially failed to comply; he then began to argue with staff. Later…

The purpose of my experiment was to change my study habits. Before beginning the assignment I started off only studying my classwork for about 1 to 2 hours a day. I readily noticed that this behavior needs to change to at least 3 to 4 hours a day, so I figured out a plan. The basic approach I used to change this behavior was to start going to the library more often rather than leaving and going straight home after class. I also started taking better class notes so that I could have something to review over than just my text book. By me putting in more hours of study time I should see a better outcome in my grades by the end of the semester.…

“Bureaucracy literally means “rule by office,” which emphasizes the fact that it is not ruled by persons” (Weinstein, 2010, p. 111). For the first 8 years of my counseling, career I worked in an evidence-based behavioral modification program called the Crest program. In order to be a part of the program the clients had to volunteer and the staff had to agree to work in a prison based program. The program is a bureaucracy because it is ruled by an office not just by one person. For example, the program consisted of a top of the house, Expeditors, creative groups, and ways and means, which was essentially the janitorial staff. Each of these groups was headed by a staff member or several staff members and in order for the program to successfully…

I had to plan ahead in order to make sure that I accomplish the assignments for this class while still attending the board meetings for the organizations I was a part of. By looking at my Participation paper I was there for a majority of my class days and the only reason I missed class was because of really bad allergies and when I received bronchitis for week and a half. By going to class I was able to get tips on how to make my work better and how to accomplish the tasks given to us better thus making it less stressful for me to finish the project meaning I was more likely to finish the project earlier than the time given to us. When I realized that going to class and doing my work before the due date made me less stressed out I tried my hardest to always finish my work in all my class on time making me have a less stressful week. Another example of my improvement in this area is when we look at my Communication improvement profile paper written in the beginning of the year. I wrote the paper the night before and really didn’t look at the rule brick on how everything needed to be organized. When looking at this paper I followed the rule brick the best I can and wrote this paper before the due date allowing me to continually correct the grammar mistakes I have made and other problems that could have been found in this paper. Taking…

The assignments I feel students procrastinate on more would be writing an essay and submitting class discussions. Essays usually have to be longer than one page of writing so most students think “I will do this on Friday or Saturday. It won’t take me long.” Then it ends up not getting done on time because the essay has required a lot more research than the student was prepared for. Students procrastinate on class discussions usually because we all have to reply to other students and carry a conversation so the student will wait until last minute to turn the discussion in so that they don’t have to carry a conversation back and forth.…

My behavior changes were set to tackle my eating habits and the lack of water I was consuming. I chose to change my eating habits because I noticed that although my weight gain wasn’t significant, I was constantly feeling out of energy. I decided to lean towards items such as organic produce, whole-wheat, lean proteins, and low fat dairy options. Likewise, I figured that drinking more water, an essential nutrient, would reenergize my body and make me feel full. Thus, I wasn’t tempted to stop by Del Taco for their irresistible french fries. As a result, this Evidence-Based Behavior Change Project was successful and positively impacted my life.…

Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is hard for me to stop procrastinating. I believe I do my best writing at the last minute. I usually wait until the night before to do most of it. I am usually up late the night before the paper is due. Having things due dates has kept me on task, and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your result will be. That was my mistake with the argumentative paper.…

The behavior change project for me was a very rewarding process because I really felt like I was able to help someone. I started off in the beginning trying to help my friend lose weight because he had always told me that he wanted too. Throughout the six weeks, he lost a total of 10 pounds. It wasn’t always easy throughout because it took a lot of planning and hard work to achieve what he wanted to. As time went on, his goals became easier for him. He worked 3 times a week (missed only one!) and made sacrifices in his diet. Although he did not meet his goal, he still did a very good job. I guided my client to develop goals and objectives from the beginning of our first meeting. I told him that I did not want to pressure him in doing something he doesn’t want to do. However, he was very determined and asked for my help for some of them. Through out the weeks, we did change some of the goals and objectives depending on how he did the week earlier. I did tell him that a gradual build up to working out and diet would be best. Also, I asked him what would motivate him and incorporated that into our system.…

Since I was sick the first week, I didn’t start on my behavior change plan until the second week of interterm. During that first week of lifting it went well. I stuck with my behavior change plan. I lifted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Monday I focused on upper body like I said I would. On Wednesday I concentrated on my lower body muscles. On Friday I focused on strengthening my abdominal muscles. After a successful week I rewarded myself, like I said I would in my behavior change plan. After I finished my abdominal workout on Friday I went to Tropical Smoothie and got a strawberry banana smoothie. Like I said in my plan, this is a healthy reward because it has fruit in it. After that week I felt really good about myself and I physically felt a lot better. The Monday of the third week of interterm, I injured my hip while snowboarding. I probably could have done upper body lifting exercises, but I became really lazy. The whole third week I haven’t lifted at all. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be to convince myself to lift. It was also really hard that second week to stick to my behavior change plan. I would lift like I was supposed to on Monday, but then I would get bored on Tuesday and want to lift, but I couldn’t because I needed to stick to my behavior change plan. During the second week I was squatting 45 pounds for the first rep and then my second rep I added a 2.5-pound weight on both sides and then the third rep I added another 2.5-pound weight on both sides. So by the third rep I was squatting 50 pounds. When I was doing the bench press exercise I benched 45 pounds the first two reps and then added a 2.5-pound weight on both sides to make my third rep 50 pounds.…
