Muscular strength is the ability to exert maximum force against resistance. People with strength can carry out their daily tasks efficiently while reducing risks of suffering obesity, chronic low back pain, cardiovascular disease and premature mortality. Examples of muscular strength include push-ups, weight lifting heavy weight with repetitions and pull-ups. In contrast, muscular endurance is the ability of the muscle to exert submaximal force repeatedly over a period of time. People with good muscular endurance are expected to have a better posture and be better able to resist fatigue than people who lack muscular endurance. Examples to improve muscular endurance include lifting weights with repetitions or sit-ups.
