Ms Paint Observation
In this picture, I am teaching the children about MS Paint. It was taken during the first deployment. I chose this picture because it is very memorable to me as this was my first task during the first deployment. The pupils are so focused in this picture. It can be related to two of the aim of NSTP which is literacy and community service. I still remember how I feel when this photo was taken. I felt honored because it is such a privelege to teach children about computer literacy. I was also amazed because the children were so participative and very eager to learn. I know that the lectures that we taught them during our deployment would help them alot in doing their school works in the near future. It was such a privelege

“In a technology-rich classroom, students don 't "learn" technology. Technology merely provides the tools to be used for authentic learning. It is a means, not an end” (Schrum, n.d.). For an effective and efficient classroom, teachers should include technology that meets the ISTE standards while teaching to meet the CCSS standards. When developing this unit lesson plan about the five senses and any future lesson plans, I hope to always remember that the most effective teachers utilize technology as a tool. Technology should be useful and helpful in helping students do something they may not have been able to…

Comments You have: “What memories have you created and what memories are you reminded of when you reflect with your precious object?”- Perhaps you can simplify this question for students- a suggestion- If you were to have to leave your home and could only take one object that would remind you of ___________, what would it be? Youʼre objective is well balanced: Form, theme, context, age appropriate and achievable. Well articulated and clear. However see my note in the prototype. I might be misinterpreting... For my art observation I went to preschool. I observed a Jr. Kindergarten class that consisted of 12 students between the ages of 4 and 5. It was a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday class. The day that I observed the students and teachers sometimes (as well as the whole school) were a little distracted, because it was picture day. So after the students took their pictures they did their art activity so that they wouldn't have to stop and they wouldn't get dirty for the picture. Overall, the art activity was enjoyed by both teacher and student and was developmentally appropriate.…

Educators have grown more accustom to employing the use of technology in the classroom especially when observing and documenting children. According Michael Robb, (2011) “technology has a positive role in early childhood programs, particularly to document children’s learning” Nonetheless, one of the disadvantages of using technology for observation and documentation is the availability of suitable pieces of technology. He argues that newer forms of technology are not readily available in early childhood classroom. Robb, (2011) outlined that the most common form of technology that is available to educators are digital cameras, desktop or laptop computers and TV and DVDs. On According to Green Garage (2015) another challenge that educators face when using technology is navigating the large number of negative views attached to the use of technology to record and observe children. These negative views are often among parents who concerned about the safety and wellbeing of their children especially in the digital world. Lindgren (2012) outlines that educators often get overly engrossed in the use of technology in documentation which often shifts the focus from the child’s point of view to the adult’s perspective. She argues that thus issue is prevalent among educators who have vlogs, blogs and other social media…

Second, the students, in the picture above, are one of the few children I got work with while being a peer assistant. Not only is this significant to me, because I want to help students like them, but because these students left a huge impact on my life. They, not knowingly, helped me see the struggles they go through everyday, as well as everything that they can be great at, and just as capable to do the things that i can do…

The relationship between Mr. Dunn and his students was intriguing to watch. The children all wanted his attention and would run up to him and say “watch this” or “look at what I can do”. He patently watched and then gave high fives and reassured them of what a good job they did. It was apparent that he cared about them and they cared about him and what he thought of their new learned skills. Some words he used to describe his students were funny, caring, and outgoing. Taking time to know his students is a huge priority for Mr. Dunn and he takes this task very…

For the past few weeks I have been volunteering for Mrs. Seutter’s first grade class at Pine Meadow Elementary. There are twenty-two students in her class, and their ages range from six to seven. I volunteer every Monday through Friday, except Wednesdays, from 8:30 in the morning to 9:50 a.m. During that time the first graders get all settled in. When I first arrive they are usually reading, working on an assignment that the teacher gives them, writing down their addresses, or talking to the teacher. After they have done everything, the teacher projects on the smartboard a dance along video that the kids can dance to so they can lose some of the energy they have. After their dance they all go sit in a group next to the whiteboard to discuss…

One of my strengths is the development of resources. I enjoy looking for pictures that will amuse and interest the students – I think that people learn better when the resources pique interest. I also ensure that resources are culturally appropriate or culturally neutral such as making a paper airplane which illustrated the different forms of the verb ‘to make’. This was an effective tool for elicitation and is one that uses minimal resources.…
