Mr. Wilson Trapp Jr.
What I got out of the sermon “Wait on the Lord” preached by Rev. Antonio Baker on Tuesday September 26, 2006. The sermon was preached from Psalms 27 with the focus on verse 14.

Psalms 27 verse 14:
14. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Waiting is not easy: waiting is a difficult and time consuming process. It can even be irritating and aggravating. Impatience in many cases can cause doubt. It is particularly difficult to wait on God to answer your prayers. You know that you are a saint, a child of God and storms are brewing in your life and in the midst of your situation you call on God but He has not answered you yet. The storm is still ragging, you don’t know how much you can take and it appears that the worst is about to happen; you may wonder “where is God”.

God is Faithful, He will show up: It’s not easy but we must have faith in God that He will show up. He may not come when you want Him, but he is always on time, and when He shows up He will show out. We must have faith in God. If we study the Word of God we find numerous historical examples of what God had done for those who have waited on Him to move in their lives. We can recall times when has answered our prayers, He came to our rescue and straightened it out and many times he blessed us exceeding above what we prayed for. He is faithful to us and we have to have faith in Him.

Difficult times will come: Difficult times will come in your life no matter how much you go to church, no matter how much you read the Bible, no matter how faithful you are paying your tithes hell will break out in your life. You do not have to look for it, it will find you. Folk will not like you even in the church, you may be persecuted, but don’t be discouraged just wait on the Lord.

Trouble won’t last: We have to realize and know that sooner or late we will have to face troublesome times. But don’t be worried because God will hide

All throughout generations, humans have desired to know what to put their faith into when it appears that God is not there. To Louie Zamperini, he finds that if he does not put his trust in the Lord and does not ask to be saved, that he would surely be put to death. Through Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken, pastor Billy Graham displays how impactful God is through maintaining faith and how to live that life through Him: “What God asks of men, said Graham, is faith. His Invisibility is the truest test of that faith. To know who sees him, God makes himself unseen.” (Hillenbrand 190)…

We all have had moments of tragedy and despair. It is in our darkest hour that many of us pray to God for comfort, I believe he answers our prayers when we are ready. We need to understand that asking God for material things will probably be ignored, that the greatest gifts we receive from God come from what we live and learn. For instance, my life was very difficult in many ways. I came from a home plagued by mental disease and addiction, it was a very lonely existence and I had often prayed for peace and to be loved unconditionally by another person. It did not seem like too much to want from life, however inside me grew resentment and anger. I was not ready to be loved or for a peaceful existence because I had not even loved myself. Over twenty years I lived my life angry at God for not giving me what seemed basic for most people and it consumed me to the point of near death. I saw what I had become, but now I had a child and I did not want her to feel the pain that I felt. If I did not change, it would just be repeating the vicious cycle. A very life altering decision was made and I began to heal from my past, but I still had a long journey ahead. I still felt lost and needed someone to understand. Finally I begged God to show me…

There are moments in our lives that we can wait patiently and impatiently. Such as I could be impatient in arguments with others, impatient when my parents nagged about my untidy bedroom or being betrayed by friends. Though, my patience is displayed while I wait for God’s reply to my prayers and his plan for me. Patience is praised by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23 as among the fruit of the Spirit which should be produced for all the…
