The main advantage to a written constitution is that no one can argue what is written. You are able to reference the written words and provide an exact location of the wording to prove a point or remind someone of a law. A physical copy is able to be kept as a reference any time that it is needed. Being able to read something written on paper validates a point to the degree that it is unarguable. A disadvantage is that papers are lost and do deteriorate over time.
Written constitutions are more stable. they are the guide and record of how the governing body runs its country. they also serve as historic icons, rallying points as it were in times of trouble.
