There is many reasons why the murders were never solved, such as the way The East End was in 1888. One of the given sources (Source A) shows a picture of The East End of London in 1888, from this we can see that it was a poor part of London; because there is a lot of people homeless and in the streets. Another reason for why The East End was poor was because of how the river sat (up towards the town), this meant that the town was easily able to flood, this is the same today. From the booklet I have more research on what The East End was like, here are some facts on what it was like and how it help Jack the Ripper. ‘The smoke and stinking gas fumes choked the street so badly that at times it was not even possible to see your own hand in front of your face- these smog’s were called “pea soupers” because of their greenish colour’. This made them very vulnerable as they were drunk, this meant that they were unable to fight and protect themselves also in Whitechapel. There was many small alleyways which made escaping from the murder scene was relatively easy.
Another of the reasons why the case was never solved was that the police forces methods and mistakes. The police were unable to catch the Ripper for many reasons. One fact was that the police
