Moving Trucks: A Fictional Narrative
The moving truck was supposed to arrive at ten o’clock, but here Richard was, sitting on his curb, head resting on his hands, two hours later. Richard checked his watch again and sighed. Marie was probably sitting on the steps of his new house by now, waiting for him to get there and-
Richard’s phone beeped in his back pocket. He took it out and found a text from Marie.
“Sorry Rich I can’t make it I’ll help you move in later. G2G”
Richard sighed again. I guess she wasn’t waiting at the steps of his new house by now. His new house was sitting all alone on it’s quiet little block, wondering why it’s new owner didn’t come by at the time he was supposed to.
Richard checked his watch again.

Trophy Trucks are the fastest class of off-road racing vehicles which are designed and built to resemble modern pickup trucks. Although any truck that meets the safety standards can race the trophy truck class, they, for the most part, feature long travel suspensions and high power engines. They are intended for desert racing, and are not street legal. Trophy Trucks can reach speeds in excess of 135 miles per hour even over rough terrain. This puts them among the fastest off-road vehicles in the world. The trucks are most frequently associated with the Baja 1000 race, series that have featured trophy trucks including SCORE International, and Best In The Desert or BITD, in which they are referred to as "Trick Trucks".…

Driving is inherently dangerous, especially when sharing the road with semi trucks. While you can mitigate this danger by increasing your following distance behind these big rigs, passing one on a multilane road forces you to drive within a few feet of it. Likewise, only a few feet separate you from oncoming trucks on a two lane road. Because you can't entirely avoid these situations, you have to trust that the truck doesn't lose control or otherwise harm you.…

Introduction You have recently been hired as the CEO of Road King Trucks, Inc. Road King Trucks Inc. is a California-based truck manufacturing company. The company is well known for manufacturing large, heavy-duty trucks at a reasonable cost. One of its greatest achievements is that its trucks can be easily modified or customized for different applications. Road King Trucks also builds school buses. The company is considering an expansion of its current product line to include transit buses. You feel that due to high gasoline prices, commuters will be more willing to consider using mass transit instead of using their cars to commute to work. Company Profile Road King Trucks, Inc. was established by the Smith brothers in 1880 as the California Wagon Company. The firm started manufacturing horse-drawn wagons to serve the growing population in California. The brothers quickly realized that the times were changing, so they started looking for the technologies that would keep them at the forefront of their field of business. In 1915, the Smith brothers decided that they needed to make trucks as replacements for the wagons, because trucks were starting to serve the same uses as wagons, and the wagon industry was not going to be viable in the longer term. The company started making school buses in the early 1940s. Most manufacturers had been commissioned by the government to produce different large vehicles to support World War II operations. Road King Trucks opted to produce buses. It was an easy decision to make, since the buses would use common parts with the companys trucks, and the customers were local governments. Starting in the 1950s, the school bus business accounted for about 50 of Road King Trucks revenues. The Transit Bus Opportunity You arranged a meeting with the firms top management, as well as the chief design and manufacturing engineers to propose his new product. You presented an argument that more individuals in the United States and…

It all happened on a warm sunny saturday morning in “Where are you going. Where have you been’’ by Joyce Carry Oates. It started with an unfamiliar car bouncing along Connie's long drive way. When she first heard the car she rushed to the window excitedly, frantically fixing her hair. Making sure she looked good, seemed to be an insecure habit for Connie. She saw an uninvited boyish looking man who was situated in the car parked now in her driveway. There was a tension of unease about the boyish man, he acted if he was supposed to be at Connie's house, as if she has told him to come. She should have taken him being there uninvited more seriously, by locking the door or even calling the police. Connie was too caught up with herself to realize…

Having a job that only goes on during a certain season has many downfalls, you won't have much to do in the summer, spring, and fall months. All winter you have to cram in getting as many trips as you can, and with global warming, the ice is melting and you soon will never be able to drive over the lake because it won't be the required 30 inches thick. Being an ice road trucker isn't a very reliable job, because you have to be many months away from your family and friends, you are isolated in your truck usually by yourself, it is very dangerous, and you have to drive ready to jump out in a emergency, because they are very common. If you make one little mistake on the road you are not only putting your own life in danger, you are putting every truck driver who is on the ice's life in danger. It is very cold in the north and if your truck breaks down which is not uncommon, you could get frostbite in a few minutes if the heating system stops working. if you have to go out of your seat and go fix a part on the truck it is very cold so you have to do it quick. Many things can and do go wrong on the road and you are stranded so there is nowhere you can stop to get help, it is a very independent job, meaning everything is on you. If you mess up in anyway and damage the equipment you are bringing, you will have to pay because that is your fault. It is a very stressful job and can be very risky.…
