English Composition I
Essay 2
April 3, 2013 How to plan a move from one home to another

In 2009, I moved from a house to an apartment. Things I needed to do were:
• Packing
• Moving all the boxes and furniture from one place to another
• And thanking everyone who helped before and after moving everything. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to move? So many things could go wrong. You need a plan, and there are a lot of things you need to do to prepare for. When I moved four years ago, I did not know what to expect. This was my first time moving as a teenager, and I thought it was going to be easy. I moved from a house to an apartment and there were things I needed to do before and after I moved. I needed to start packing, moving all the boxes and furniture from one place to another, and thanking everyone who helped before and after moving everything. For two days, my mom brought home as many boxes and newspapers as she could fit into our Chevrolet Blazer. Then for two weeks, my mom and I spent packing all the glass ware, clothes,

Mom was already up finishing taping up boxes. Mom’s best friend came over around 10 A.M. I started to bring down the boxes that were in my room because it was on the second floor. Mom and her best friend started to take the boxes from the main level and started to load the vehicles. After both vehicles were filled with boxes, the three of us drove 15 minutes from the east to west side of town. When we arrived, I got out first to run up two flights of stairs to open the door. We had a system on bringing the boxes up the stairs; Mom would go all the way up and move the boxes from the stairs to inside the apartment, and her best friend and I would move the boxes from the cars to the top of the stairs. We did this until noon. I was in so much pain after the first day because I have never seen that many stairs in my

The population of elderly adults is growing quickly. The oldest members of the popular baby boom generation are now over the age of 65, which means there are more seniors now than ever before in the United States. Of this age group, 43.8% are either single or widowed, and living alone (U.S. Census, 2010). Aging adults desire to remain in their own homes, and this leaves the question as to who is responsible for making sure their physical and emotional needs are being met? Many cities provide a senior community center, but are these centers able to provide support to homebound seniors who are not able to participate in on-site center activities? Cities should also focus on programs that meet the needs of homebound seniors. A senior community companionship program that makes free home visits to homebound seniors could make an overwhelmingly positive impact on their lives. A companionship program for homebound seniors should be supported as an essential community volunteer function because it enriches the lives of immobile seniors by improving their emotional and physical health, and increases their quality of…

I hate moving, as im sure we all do. My next task was to find a place to live that was actually worth the work that comes with moving. Somewhere permanent. After searching the newspaper and scrolling the internet day after day, I found it. A two thousand square foot custom built home, in the middle of nowhere, yet still only a 15 minute commute to civilization.…

I felt a fire starting up inside of me. My mom thinks I am a baby and can't handle things on my own. I felt adrenaline hit me like a mad bull. " I am a big boy I can handle anything," I angrily shouted. I got my moms big mirror, and with all my strength I tried to carry it up to our apartment. One of my shoes were untied, and I was beginning to lose my balance, my mom's mirrored weight about 25 pounds and were about 4 feet wide and 4 feet long. For a small skinny guy like me, that was pretty big and heavy to carry all the way to the apartment. Eventually, I lost all my balance and fell the stairs. I was able to stop myself by holding on to the ramp, but as I held on to the ramp, I quickly noticed I had let go of my mom's mirror. That mirror flew down the stairs, and once it hit the ground, it immediately shattered like all how my behind was going be after she was done with giving me whoopings. My mother saw the whole event happen before her eyes. I didn't even want to look at her facial expression, I already knew what was coming for me, I held my butt tight and was praying that I would still have a tail left over when she was through with…

Moving houses or apartments is something I have done five times since I moved to Oregon three years ago and is about to be something I am going to do again at the end of term and then during the fall when I transfer schools. Some things the class has taught me on how to better manage this stress is reframing my thinking and modifying my behavior regarding time management during a phase of packing and moving. These things are closely interconnected for me in this situation. Since moving is not a pleasant experience I put off packing this is then followed by…

Moving to northern Wisconsin as a young girl was a scary and confusing time. Having been born in Chicago, all I knew was a big city, the crowds of people, the nonstop traffic and all the noises. My home, it was the only place I knew. How could my parents make a decision like this? How could they make me move to a place I had only visited once before -- but barely remembered? The sadness I felt was so overwhelming during that transition that I told myself that if I ever had a family, I would never make them move. As an adult, many years later, I look back and almost chuckle. My family and I have moved many times, for work or family and even adventure. Now as an adult, I push my children to find adventure in every move…

The moment when you were first born is important. The moment when you first go to school is important. Many things happened to us in the past , but we only remember it vividly, probably because it’s not that essential so we’re not bothered by it. However, we will remember our watermarks forever even if we’re growing older by the days because it makes us who we are. Different people have their own different lives to live, so of course everyone’s story is not the same. As for me, the one watermark that I still remember until now was when I moved to America back in 2008, because it has changed my life forever.…
