Moving Away
I can still remember that day. If you asked me, I thought the world was coming to a blazing end. Well, at least my world. It was a very humid and hot summer afternoon. Unusually warm for New England, it was the type of weather found in the deep south of our country. It was quite a coincidence actually; since this was the type of weather I would have to be used to. After all here I was on my way down to the south moving to Kentucky. It was a slightly a year before when I was first told by my parents that we would be moving. At first I didn’t believe them. I thought, “What kind of sick joke is this? “But after a few minutes I realized they were serious. More serious questions came popping into my mind. Why would we move? What about my friends? Who is going to buy this junky house? These were all questions that initially ran through my jumbled mind. My parents refused to answer my questions however. This got me extremely angry. How could they force such a change in my life and ignore my questions? My parents were being cruel, not because they were making me move but because they were completely ignoring my feelings and questions. My opinions and feelings meant nothing to them because they made the choice on their own. I was a

Essay on Moving Away

Moving away from all of your best friends can be a real tragedy in a sixteen-year-old teenagers life. It 's hard to get up and go eight hundred miles away from everyone you know and everything you grew up around. I had this happen to me about three years ago and it is the largest change I have ever had to adjust to in my life. It wasn 't the changes around me that I was bothered by; it was that I did not know one living soul for hundreds of miles and all I wanted was a friend.
Two days into the summer after sophomore year at Governor Mifflin High School in the little town of Shillington Pennsylvania I would find out the worse news that a sixteen year old could hear. I found out that in four days my family and I would

About a year or so ago, my parents sat my brother and I down looking really solemn. At first I thought that my cat had been killed by a coyote or something (I’m slightly paranoid about my cat). Then I realized that I hadn’t seen my dog yet and normally he comes to greet us when we get home from school. He had been having some problems recently with odd possible cancer lumps and limping. I thought that he had been put down or something. Neither one happened. Then I remembered that my parents were always fighting, and that my dad and I would constantly fight too. This was it. Dad was moving out. Dad started speaking first. He said that he was moving out. My brother burst into tears. I merely sat there. I expected this. I had been expecting this…

It all started on a Tuesday morning on October 4th. The school was buzzing with news about a hurricane that was supposed to be creeping along the coast line and heading towards us. I didn’t really think much of the storm because it didn’t really sound serious. Boy was I wrong! At the end of the school day I was rendered speechless when the principal announced that school was cancelled the rest of the week and there was a mandatory evacuation! When I got home from school it was like a mad house! Leashes were laying around, clothes were thrown around the room, and there were suitcases. My mom and dad decided that we should leave and evacuate to Atlanta because my mom already had to go there for business that weekend anyway. So that Monday morning…

I was only ten at the time, an only child living with my mom and dad. My parents were happily married for a long time. We would spend a lot of time together, bonding, and sharing laughs. I was told many stories from my parents experienced and loved every second of it. We were one happy family, until something changed dramatically. When the sun was not shining the house would rattle from the shouting and screaming back and forth between my parents. I never knew exactly what they were fighting about or even what they were saying half the time – I would hide in my cupboard, on the floor with my head between my knees and try block out the sound - but I could feel that there was a lot of anger as well as tension in our house when with the blaring voices I could hear from my bedroom. “I’m not afraid” is what I would constantly say to myself, every day.…

I recall the day vividly. I returned home at around 4:30 PM from a club meeting at school, and I overheard vehement screams arising from my parents’ bedroom. I was startled; I had never seen them raise their tone at each other and it left me shivering. I avoided making the slightest hint of noise and nearly tiptoed to my room. “If it weren’t for the kids, I’d have left you long ago!” said my mother. That night I was unable to sleep, and no one consoled me or cared to tell me that everything was going to be resolved. I felt as if my world was collapsing because my parents neglected my happiness. They did not take me into account prior to considering a divorce. I felt unloved, being abandoned by parents and I felt that I had no one to embrace.…
