Assignment: Argo

In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans were taken hostage. Quickly and courageously 6 managed to get out and escape to the Canadian embassy home in the middle of Iran. Time was running quick and the 6 Americans that escaped needed to get out of the country fast to survive and not be killed and caught by the Iran revolutionaries. Tony Mendez an exfiltration expert devised a plan for the ages for the CIA to go in and get them out of the country safely. This plan was for them to create and come up with a fake story for a Canadian film projection looking for a place to film the movie. Tony goes and connects with some Hollywood contractors and got the okay to travel to Iran and stealthy and quickly get these 6 Americans out. This movie is extremely intense and has a lot of strength in showing just how the story was true and successfully done. It takes a Heroic man to go in to an unknown country and get 6 people out and alive. I think this movie is very historical in a lot of ways. Of course Hollywood always spices up the movies but I think Affleck did a very good job with showing us this time in history of America and it’s special forces making great rescues. I think it is useful to watch movies like this because not only is it interesting but crazy how sometimes we tend to learn about great historical things after a Hollywood movie comes out on the event. Overall, this is a great movie and a great way of entertainment and learning about history.
