The behavior of Russ, the main character in the movie, can be described by using four different theories of development. Firstly, we can describe Russ’s behavior by Psychoanalytic Theories. In this case, Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory will be used to explain the behavior of Russ. According to Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory (Cherry, 2011a), there are eight stages of human development and people will experience a conflict that serves as a turning point in each stage of development. People who had overcome the conflict in each stage will develop a psychological quality whereas those who could not overcome the conflict will fail to develop that quality. In the movie, Russ did not overcome the conflict in sixth stage, which is intimacy vs. isolation. For example, as Russ did not have a good relationship with his father when he was small, end up he turns out to be a man who being isolated, as he did not get marry or even own a dog. This is because he did not develop intimacy since small. He did not know how to commit himself to another person.…

Any hockey fan would be a perfect contender for watching the movie. The movie explores the many struggles that the team has to face to conquer their way through the Olympics, including on and off the ice. At a time when the country is in a period of struggle with the Cold War, Coach Herb Brooks has goals for the team that seem to be set a little too high. In search of the perfect romance movie that would satisfy the hopeless romantic inside me I stumbled upon Nick Cassvetes' "The Notebook" in 2004. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks one of my favorite authors. The movie follows a passionate but poor young man Noah, played by Ryan Gosling, as he falls head over heels in love with a rich young woman, Allie, played by Rachel McAdams. As it switches between the present day and flashbacks from the 1940's Allie and Noah's love story unfolds full of twists, turns, and obstacles the young couple go through before being reunited in the end. The Notebook uses its chemistry between the cast-mates, the idea that true love always finds a way to prevail along with beautiful cinematography to become a true romance movie you'll never forget.…

Titanic is James Cameron’s two hundred million dollar film portraying the real tragic voyage of the Titanic passenger liner as it sunk in the North Atlantic ocean during the April of 1912. The film is one hundred and ninety four minutes long which- fascinating factoid- is longer than the journey of the Titanic. Oh the bitter irony. You have to admit, Cameron is pretty gutsy to just assume people will watch his three-hour movie despite knowing EXACTLY what happens in the end. If you don’t know then spoiler alert: it sank! And they said it was the “greatest ship in the world, shocking right?…

42 (2013) gives its audience a feeling of sympathy towards Jackie Robinson while also having you feel a burning hatred towards the people that mistreated him. The movie 42 is a time portal back to the 1940’s when soldiers were returning home from war, baseball was America’s sport, and segregation was still occurring. It is the true story of Jackie Robinson’s (Chadwick Boseman) first two years in the big leagues of baseball. The trials and tribulations that he had to overcome as a result of being the first negro baseball player to play in the Major Leagues really gave me insight on what it was like to be an African American in the 1940’s. A scene where African Americans had their private entrance into a ballpark that was separated from the whites only scratched the surface that is the main issue of the film: racism. Director Brian Helgeland did a great job showing the audience the perspective of racism through the eyes of the African Americans, and more specifically Jackie Robinson. The fact that people, such as Phillies’ manager Ben Chapman (Alan Tudyk), would yell derogatory things to him and that he couldn’t fight back would cause me to sympathize for Jackie. In that same scene Jackie breaks down in the dugout because the racist hecklers, specifically Chapman, were wearing him down. Helgeland did a great job at showing us that Robinson was not immortal to feelings, but rather that he was human like all of us. No matter what someone shows on the exterior, they may be feeling different on the inside.…

Director Bernardo together with the cast of Kita Kita did not expect that their movie would become a successful block buster and gain ten times the money they spent making the film. At first, I did not give much attention or excitement to watch the movie knowing that the actors or love team itself was not popular. But as I watch the film I was really amazed with the construction of the events and heavy lines they threw that gives a thrill to the film. Only that using Japanese language in the movie without applying any subtitle makes me feel a little disappointment because I can’t understand what they are…
