Movie Analysis: Candy Corn
The simple pitch is that Candy Corn is a staying of age film. In the film industry and especially the Indie scene coming of age is a cliche and I understand why. Life is hard and at some point we have to accept the world and try to make the best of it. But art isn’t about making the best of thing’s it's about making the best things… really it’s about communication but let me have this one. Candy Corn says damn you to reality and challenges its participant audience to hold onto dreams. At my age with the fervor of the idealistic college student far gone I struggle with my movies to hold onto that guy that wasn’t afraid of challenges, that guy that didn’t compromise about important ideas. As a man, I balance work and bills as well as

Before watching this movie, I thought corn farms would be produced through plantation agriculture since corn is usually produced in large quantities on monoculture farms, or intensive agriculture because farmers want more crops using less amount of land so they are able to make more profit from their harvested crops. I imagined corn farms to be hundreds, maybe even thousands, of rows of green husks stretching for miles. Once the corns were in seasons and ready to be harvested, there would be tractors that drove down the rows to collect the corn. I know corn is an important grain for agriculture, especially for the livestock industry so I believed farmers would produce an abundant amount of corn for the population and livestock consumption.…

Set during one Saturday detention, The Breakfast Club is a movie about five different kids from five different social groups becoming friends and finding out they're not so different after all. The five main characters are Claire the princess, Andy the jock, Allison the basket case, Brian the nerd, and Bender the criminal. Little Miss Sunshine was the feel good movie of the summer, opening on July 26, 2006. The minds behind the camera were Michael Arndt, who wrote the screenplay, and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The movie would not have come together if it had not been for the awesome cast that brought it all together, Abigail Breslin, Paul Dano, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, and Alan Arkin. Not one of the 17 awards and nominations for the movie and cast could have happened if it had not been for Fox Searchlight Pictures and Big Beach production companies for believing in bringing the story to the big screen.…

We are venturing again to Los Angeles this week where 1987 graduate, Corey Jackson, works as a film and television composer. After a movie is made, Corey meets with the director of the film to “spot” the film. This is the process of deciding where music should go in the film and what emotions the music should portray. After the spot, Corey writes the music for one scene at a time. Each composition is sent to the director for approval. Corey says that the director may like it the first time or may send it back with notes and suggestions for him to try again. “Once that is completed I, with the help of my team, will record, mix and deliver the music to the dubbing stage for final mix,” says Jackson. He also describes being on the set of a movie as not glamorous, contrary to what some may think. On a constant deadline, he says working is hard, time consuming, and challenging, but working with like minded people who all have the same ultimate goal and work ethic makes it easier.…

When George and Candy find Curley’s wife in the barn after Lennie killed her, “Candy spoke his greatest fear” (Steinbeck 94), asking George if they were still going to get the farm. By saying this is Candy’s greatest fear, Steinbeck shows that Candy desperately wants to leave the ranch, because he is lonely. Candy does not think he can get a place on his own, so he is filled with joy when George and Lennie say that he can join them. George answers Candy’s question, saying that “[he] kn[e]w from the very first [...they would] never [get the place… Lennie] usta like to hear about it so much” (94), that the idea just stuck. Art is a curse that will grab you once you're hooked and hold on to you for the rest of your life. Art doesn't hold people’s hands through the rough patches, of course; she makes them work for it. If someone thinks that art is easy then they have another thing coming, because art doesn't kiss on the first date. Art had forced me to confront the emotions that I was not ready to confront. I have met jealousy through other artists’ artworks and I know frustration through mine. I become frustrated and blinded by my work when I am unable complete it because I can’t translate the image in my head to the paper on my easel, and there is so much that I wanted to say through my art, but my hands can’t seem to work right.…

A Christmas Carol, both the play and the movie, have many similarities with just as many differences. Although the movie was created as a follow-up to the play, there were many times where the movie was completely different. On occasion, there would be times where you could follow along to the movie with the script, but most of the time, it would be somewhat the same. The script compared to the movie is more informing and fills in empty holes. Although watching the movie is easier, in order to get all of the facts straight, it would be better to read the script or see the play.…
