Education across the world has experienced significant changes. Students are now required to learn and behave by standard guidelines. Teachers are now held accountable for teaching certain lessons to the students. There are people, laws, and organized groups that have done extensive research and studies to decide who should learn what and in which manner. The following articles will explain a few of those changes and the impact each has had on education.

In 1859, a lawsuit commonly known as the Kalamazoo School Case, supported education within the public school system. The lawsuit was developed in Michigan. This lawsuit defines things such as the authorization of over 200 children. It also dealt with the schools being funded with local taxpayer dollars. Under the Kalamazoo reign, the first high school was constructed in 1858.

Alvarez vs. the Board of Trustees of the Lemon Grove (California) School District (1931). A common factor of this case was the involvement of Mexicans and Americans. The case is known for using a lemon as its emblem. This ruling allowed Spanish speaking students a fair chance to an education. This was done by turning a barn resembling structure into a school for these specific students. This case gave these children a fair chance to learn separately from other students, while remaining with students who were predominantly the same.
