Motivating Students to Participate in More Sports Activities at School
MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN MORE SPORTS ACTIVITIES AT SCHOOL

Introduction
The aim of this report is to analyse why so many students aren’t motivated to do a lot of sports activities at school. A number of students and teachers were interviewed and their suggestions for changes to the methods are summarised.

The problem * There aren’t a lot of different sport activities offered at school
There don’t seem to be a lot of sports that can be played at school. Only a few sorts of sports are offered and that are football, that isn’t even weekly and a real competition, and softball. If these sports don’t fit you, you haven’t got a lot of opportunities to play sports at school. * Students don’t intend to sport a lot anymore
Students aren’t known for their plesure of moving and sporting a lot. The electronics swallow a lot of their spare time, and they aren’t motivated to play sports in their leisure time, because it’s less exciting.

Improving the situation
What steps can be taken to improve the situation? I would recommend that teachers place more emphasis on increasing the different sorts of sports that are offered at school, in order to get students more motivated. When they are allowed to choose the sport that attracts them most, they will become more motivated. When students are playing a sport they enjoy, they will easily resist the instant tempation of their electronic games.

Conclusion
Students aren’t as motivated for sports as they should be. There aren’t enough sports activities offered at school, which leads to low motivation on the part of students. In my opinion there should be given more choices to the students what sport they want to practice. When they get to choose from sports they enjoy, they will get more

Sports keep teens well behaved at school and in class. Sports reduce the number of fights, and bad classroom behavior. In order to play any sport in high school, the students must make good grades. If they fail to make the grades, then they are either dismissed from the team, or they must take a study hall before each practice for at least 30 minutes, sometimes even for the whole day until his or her grade comes up to a passing grade. In most high schools, there are problems with attendance from the students. If a player does not come to school, then they may not go to practice or attend the game that…

Everybody loves to play sports. They have been a popular recreational activity for many years. Now, most high school-level sports are supported by the school. However, these school sports have started getting out of hand due to the large amount of school that is missed as a result of school sports. This is a major problem because the whole purpose of school is to learn. School sports should be banned because they cause students to fall behind in school work, cost the school money that could be used for educational purposes, and take focus off from school.…

Many students enjoy participating in after school sports where they can hang out with their friends, relax, and have fun. While many kids claim sports are the antidote to stress; numerous studies have shown that student’s grades are dropping because of their focus on sports rather than their academic achievements. Therefore, schools should get rid of after school sports because they are expensive, students are failing academically, and they are a huge distraction.…

Many teachers are worried that grades will go down when kids stop playing sports. Teachers want an alternative motivation for good grades. According to “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure” most kids require a scholarship to be able to afford college. There are not just sports scholarships. There are also academic scholarships which can motivate kids to get good grades to be able to apply for these scholarships. Alternate preexisting and possible activities would help the large majority of teens get better grades while still having the excitement of competition. These activities include science olympiad, battle of the brains, online math league, math relays, and voyagers. Possible future activities could include a debate team or an…

Nearly 65% of children say they participate in sports to be with their friends (Statistic Brain). Sports were established so that the individual could not only exercise, but also to compete against a rival. Just as there are individual sports, there are team sports in high school. The idea of a team sport is that every single person on the field or court must work in unison to have the greatest opportunity to win. In addition to the increasing popularity of sports, the average child’s age when they join a team is decreasing. For example, the age that a child joins a basketball team has shifted from fourth grade to first grade or even kindergarten in the past decade. School is the primary factor when you review the participation in athletics,…

One reason high school sports aren’t beneficial is because they create a lot of pressure. According to the video “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” by KCRA, sports are sometimes the only way students can get into a good college and be able afford it. This puts a lot of pressure on the athletes to perform at their best 100% of the time. Experts say that your child's entire team will suffer if the parents are pressuring their kids (KCRA.com, “Do Athletes Face Unnecessary Parent Pressure?” ). This fact is important because it proves, when parents put pressure on their children it does not benefit them, in fact it is actually setting them up for life in an unhealthy way. This shows that the pressure from sports is not good and not worth it.…

Sports have been in schools for many years, however schools may change their decision about sports. During recent studies, over 20 different countries have shown higher graduation rates than the US, and many feel this is because of after school sports. Therefore, athletic programs should be eliminated in schools because it can put districts in debt, students will stay more focused on their homework, and kids can spend more time with their family.…

Many people do not realize the importance of high school sports; let me tell a story. There were two completely different kids that went to the same high school. One of them participated in high school sports from Fall to Spring. This kid kept up with his grades and kept busy with sports and homework. The other kid did not participate in any kind of school sports. The kid who didn’t play any sports went home after school every day, so instead of playing sports or doing homework in the free time available, he had to find something else to keep busy. Having all this free time led trouble. There is no need to go into more depth in the story; the point is that people do not realize that high school sports are a crucial part of being a good student…

Activities and sports in schools is a great way for students to be involved, and to be active. I have done research and there hasn’t been one article I found on why sports shouldn’t be in schools. Having athletic programs and activities in schools are very helpful for students health, it develops team work, helps develop discipline and also perfection. School administrators, and parents, generally support high school activity programs because of the positive effect these activities appear to have on students of both genders. (Braddock P.1)…

Sports is a very important part of students lives. If the purpose of public education is to prepare the students for life and college, then it must be more than math, reading, and writing. Obesity has become a factor in life for some students and it needs to stop. Public schools offer more sports than private schools. Public school states, “Athletics have been a mainstay of the high school scene for decades.” But, today the sports has expanded for both females and males. Some students get involved with the love of the game, while others love the benefits that the game comes with. Community representation, fitness, teamwork and cooperation, positive mentors, social relationships, leadership skills, time management, and success mindset are some…
