Most dangerous game summary

In the story the most dangerous game the main character Rainsford, who is a big shot hunter, is trying to get to an island called Ship-Trap Island somewhere in the Caribbean. He is accompanied by Whitney, who is another professional hunter. Sometime during the night Rainsford falls over board and decides to swim towards the direction he heard the gun shot a little bit before. He eventually makes it to shore and finds a hulking man whom goes by General Zaroff. The general had read every book that Rainsford had every wrote about hunting since he did a lot of hunting himself. He actually did so much hunting that he got bored of every type of animal except one. This is where there is a twist in the story. Rainsford finds out that the General has been hunting people for a while, since they prove to be the hardest challenge when it comes to hunting due to cunning, courage and ability to reason. Rainsford also finds out that the General has a training camp for the next people he is going to hunt. At this point Rainsford is disgusted and wants to get off of the Island as soon as possible but, quickly learns the only way he is getting off the Island is by surviving three days of being hunted by the General. Rainsford is given a hunting knife, clothes and food by Ivan. At dusk the general searches for Rainsford, and finds him but pretends not to see him to mess with his mind. Later Rainsford sets up a trap that almost crushes the General but since of his quick reflexes his shoulder is only bruised. The next trap was a trap hole which worked but instead of catching the general it captured and eliminated one of his best dogs. At this point the General must not be happy since the next day he brings all of his dogs and Ivan with them. Rainsford knew he was minutes to being trapped and managed to improvise by tying his knife to a grapevine springy sapling which killed Ivan perfectly. Rainsford is now running for his life running out of tricks up his sleeve and then decides to dive 20ft into the, normal unforgiving, ocean. The general thinks that Rain is dead from the dive into the water sits down and has a drink. That night he had a nice dinner and then goes to his room, where Rainsford is hiding in the curtain and reveals how he managed to get into the house so fast by swimming. The two have one final fight and Rainsford ends up sleeping in one of the most comfortable beds he has ever slept on and the General becomes a meal for the dogs.
