Monttresor: A Narrative Story: The Montresor
It was in the middle of carnival season. The music was blasting loudly to conciliate the moment of such a wonderful occasion. Keeping my head up, I looked around. There were people dancing, swaying their body in time with the music. Others were sipping on their drinks lightly, smooching and chit-chatting with each other. It was then I spotted Fortunato who was wearing a belled suit, enjoying himself at the carnival festivities. He was speaking to an acquaintance of his that were hobbling and jerky, who were obviously drunk. Even though he was not sober, he offered his faithfulness and his kindness to him. I took my steps gracefully and waved at him. He seemed delighted to see me.
I started the conversation. “My good friend Fortunato, what

There were so much thoughts and feelings to be reminisced. “The Montresor,” I said, “were a great numerous family.” The name meant a lot to me.
“I forgot your family’s coat of arms and motto.” He said, glancing at me.
“My family shield portrays ‘a huge human foot d’or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel.” I replied.
“And the motto?” He asked respectfully.
“The motto, in Latin, is ‘nemo me impune lacessit,’ that is, ‘no one attacks me with impunity.’ ” I responded defensively, my head held high without my knowledge.
“Good!” He proclaimed.
Later in the journey, we descended into a crypt, where the walls were decorated with well-preserved human bones. At the other end of the wall, a skeleton was chained in a metal cage.
“Here it is. Let’s place him here.” I pointed to one end of the wall with chairs prepared while throwing the Fortunato down on the ground. He squirmed on the floor upon the impact. “Come, give me a hand.” We then tied the collapsed Fortunato on to one of the four fusty chairs. The effect of the sleeping pills was so strong that he was still unconscious after being dragged all the way through the long passage and thrown on the ground. He seemed more like a dead

Feelings of foreboding flooded his senses as the hair on the back of his neck stood out. Someone had listened to his conversation, and was residing in the shadows of his room. How had he not sensed this before? “Whoever is here, step forward. Do so quickly or face my wrath.” A tall, muscular man stepped forward. A knight, he surmised, wearing jade colored armor with a coat of arms on his chest plate that he did not recognize, figures of two fighting dragons adorned his gauntlets, and in his hands, he threateningly…

Montresor baits Fortunato by using his weakness, the love of wine. Another weakness he displays is his ego and Montresor knows this. It doesn 't take much for him to be baited into sampling his supposed newly acquired pipe of amontillado. During the trip in the catacombs Montresor compels him many times to return to the surface because of his cold, but Fortunato being drunk and a fool wants to be the one to sample the amontillado. He fails to understand the foreshadowing that Montresor provides him with the mason 's trowel, even when he asks about the Montresor coat of arms. "A huge human foot d 'or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel" (Poe 208). He must not have realized how serious Montresor takes his pride. When he finally has him chained to the wall he is very shocked. His disbelief that his friend lured him to his death leaves him practically speechless. He quickly sobers up and begins to moan and cry, then to pull at the chains trying to escape then in a last ditch effort he begins to scream. Either in hopes that someone would hear him and come to his rescue or upon the realization that he is about to die. He knows that this is no joke, but he gives Montresor a chance at redemption by pretending that it is. Unfortunately whatever insult Fortunato had given, it leads to his demise. In the end all he can do is beg…

The casualty is Fortunato, who, the storyteller cases, gave him a thousand wounds that he persevered quietly, however when Fortunato challenged him, he pledged vengeance. It must be an immaculate vengeance, one in which Fortunato will know completely what is going on to him and in which Montresor will be perpetually undetected. To achieve it, Montresor holds up until jubilee season, a period of "preeminent frenzy," when Fortunato, officially half-smashed and costumed as a fool, is especially powerless. Montresor then educates him that he has acquired a funnel of Amontillado wine yet is not certain he has gotten the real thing. Having counseled Fortunato, who prides himself on being a specialist on wine, including that in light of the fact that Fortunato is locked in, he will go rather to Luchesi. Knowing his casualty's vanity, Montresor lures him by saying that a few simpletons contend that Luchesi's taste is as fine as Fortunato's. This is snared, and Montresor conducts him to his void palazzo and leads him down into the family crypts, at the same time employing him with beverage. Through underground hallways with heaps of skeletons rotating with wine barrels, Montresor drives Fortunato, whose jokester's chimes jingle unusually in the depressing climate. In the most profound grave there is a little break, and there Montresor affixes Fortunato to a couple of iron staples and after that starts to lay a mass of stone and mortar, with which he covers his foe alive. While he does as such, he savors the mental torment of his casualty, whom he then takes off alone oblivious, sitting tight in dread for his…

Looking closely at how Fortunato acts when Montresor is burning him slowly, shows that Fortunato does anything for attention. Since Montresor is his friend, he does not suspect anything strange at first. "He laughed and threw the bottle upwards with a gesticulation. I did not understand" (p. 3 li. 17-19). Fortunato has the tendency to need attention even though he did not understand Montresor when he mentioned harm to himself. It is clear from this situation that Fortunato is always wanted to be…

After Amber’s wedding, Emmett and I decided to take some time off of work and return to Bora Bora. We spent more than a month revisiting all of the tourist destinations we had once visited years prior. I was so surprised to see all of the changes to our favorite spots. It made me think about how much I have changed in all these years. I had been given a wonderful man, three beautiful blessings, and my dream. It felt like everything had been fit into place over all of these…

"The thousand injuries at the hands of Fortunato I had borne as best I could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge" (Poe, 173). Montresor is so convinced of the righteousness of his convictions that he "must not only punish but punish with impunity" (Poe, 173). Montresor also states how he must not fail to "make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong" (Poe, 173). Montresor's words prove how his prideful obsessions have deluded his mind enough to believe that Fortunato's wrongs justify his agonizing death. Furthermore, Montresor believes he should go unpunished for his…

One way that Montresor was able to keep Fortunato’s impaired attention was by using ironic reverse psychology. “‘Come ,’ I said, with decision,’ we will go back; your health is precious….”’(3). Montresor used reverse psychology by telling Fortunato that the niter could harm him which resulted in Fortunato feeling as though he must prove his word.
