Montresor: A Short Story
More success, more triumph. Why not? There isn’t a man, nay a soul, that could best me. But it is with wine that I celebrate my glory. The more the better, as wine is my source of comfort. I indeed celebrate with my trusted friend Montresor, who had accompanied me during the carnival season. Dusk lay across the land, and while the people cheered and laughed, I was mesmerized my what my friend had to tell me. “A pipe” I stumbled a bit by the news, unsure if I’d even heard it right. “Impossible! And in the middle of the carnival!" He looked at me but I scarce recognized the details of his face, for wine and intoxication has taken hold. “Amontillado” I repeated.
“I have my doubts, and I must satisfy them” my friend commented. “Amontillado”

I began to cough severely, to which i had been coughing for several days. To me, the cough meant nothing, but Montresor objected.
"Come, we will go back; your health is precious.”
Enough” I silenced him. “It was merely a cough, nothing more, I shall not die of a cough”
He presented me with wine to which I was most gracious and consumed the wine in one gulp. We pressed on. Into the catacombs we ventured, my heart still focused on that pipe of Amontillado. We reached the far end of the crypt, I scuffled me feat against what I believe to be human remains.
Suddenly I was seized by a figure who chained me up to the walls of the crypt. I fought with my strength, but alas i was unable to free myself. I pulled and pulled but the chain would not give.
Amontillado I was able to get out
The voice of my friend, Montresor, was all that spoke “True. Amontillado”
I could hear the faint sound of the wall of which I entered being boarded up. In a desperate attempt I let about a loud scream. I screamed and bellowed, but nothing happened. All I could here was the wall being boarded. My screams subsided to a chuckle.
“They will not be awaiting us at the palazzo. Let us be

How does the narrator’s empathy for human nature and personality help him to achieve his goal? The narrator’s understanding of human nature and character plays an important role in accomplishing his goal. The sinister personality of the narrator, whose name is revealed at the end of the story as Montresor, and his lack of affection toward human kind, makes his goal of killing Fortunato easier for him. Montresor’s urge of revenge against the fortuneless Fortunato shows the evil nature that he possesses, because he wants Fortunato to suffer and knows who is doing it too “It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong.” (Poe 144). After Fortunato hurts Montresor a thousand times and insults him, Montresor decides to get revenge and plan the most effective method to get vengeance from Fortunato. As Montresor states in the story “The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge” (Poe 144).…

“Cask of amontillado” is short story written by Edger Alan Poe. There are two main characters in this story. We don’t actually know who is the protagonist and who is antagonist. In the starting it looks like fortunato is the main person about which the story is about But, in measure he looks unfamiliar than Montresor to me, maybe montresor is telling us this story and he didn’t give much information of his enemy(fortunate).Fortunato is addicted to wine. "Luchresi cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry." Being fully drunkard in the carnival, montresor very cunningly pump fortunato’s excitement to make his carnival celebration more enjoyable by telling him to drink ammontilado and fortunato’s avarice for ammontilado made him agree with montresor.…

“The Cask of Amontillado” is a spectacular horror story by author Edgar Allan Poe, cleverly plotted and well crafted. In a prodigious show of mischief, Poe brings forth Fortunato, an epicure of superior wines, an enjoyer of festivities, and a very inebriated man. The night of Carnival, this jaunty fellow has lost all abstemiousness to the powerful grasp of intoxication. Perhaps had he not been so indulgent in his choice of vintage, he would have avoided falling prey to an even sorrier fate, namely, that which Mr. Poe chooses for him: “He had on a tight-fitting parti-striped dress, and his head was surmounted by the conical cap and bells.”[1] Behold the attire he wears to the grave. In his bumbling ignorance, Fortunato is blind to his forthcoming quietus. Poe, a master puppeteer, leads his marionette further and further into…

The icy lands whipped him in the face. The cold heart of the land was beating like an ice wraiths heart. Cold and barren, He trudged along the frozen land. The heavy armor was wearing him down. The wind wasn’t helping much ether. The sound of his footsteps on the hard snow made crunching sounds each time his heavy plated foot hit the ground. He was covered from head to toe in an ebony encasement. Not a single piece of flesh exposed except an opening in the face. Two ice cold eyes stared out of it. There was a long trail of a sanguine liquid ran into the snow, hard as a rock before it touched the ground. He kept trudging along… the wind did not cease. It was about an hour until he found shelter. It was an Ancient Nord ruin. A long and forgotten door was only hanging by its rusted iron hinges. He pushed on it and it crumbled on his slightest touch. He gracefully rolled down the stairs and entered. He awoke a little later slightly groggy but ok. He was out of the wind. He was in a puddle of blood… it was pooling at his side. He needed to do something fast. He reached over to one of the ancient stone tables and searched. He found some old linen wraps and put them at his side. He unstrapped his ebony breast plate and took off his helmet. He then took off his breast plate. A red hot burst of pain erupted in his side, he screamed out in pain. That was a mistake, down the hall he heard the guardians awake. He was in no shape to fight and needed a plan. He looked around and saw a big urn. He went over to it and slid inside, not making a single noise. About halfway down the wall of the urn there was a little crack, not too big to see inside but just enough for him to see out of it. Footsteps filled the hall and a squad of dragers came rushing in to see what all the commotion was. They are Ancient Nords, before the 1sr era, about 2000-3000 years old there ancient bones make squeaking noses just to move. They guard all Ancient Nord ruins to the death. Well there…
