Montezuma was an aztec ruler. He is often referred to Cortez. Montezuma opened the aztec empire to Cortez in open arms. He believed Cortez was basically a god because the aztecs believed a god will come with white skin with new advancements. Montezuma opened the city to Cortez only to be betrayed. Cortez and his men ended up destroying the aztec capitol city of Tenochtitlan and one year later renaming it "Mexico City, New Spain." Montezuma was a very harsh ruler, and also perceived as a fool for letting Cortez in the city.
Acamapichtli

He was the first king or official ruler of the aztecs. The first war Acamapichtli led was against Chalcho. It started in 1375 and lasted for twelve years. He also introduced the use of canoes in warfare.Under his rule, the aztek civilization expanded greatly. He and his armies conquered Xilotepec, Tepotzotlan, Tollan, Cuauhtitlan, and Cuauhximalpan. He also was a succesful leader in war like his father.

He was a very week ruler. Remembered as,"his life was short and his deeds few," (Max, Theresa, Jailan, "The Ancient Aztecs"). The only achievement he made in 5 years was renovating his castle. We was not emperor for along time, but was not remembered as as strong, successful king.

Like all of the others, he was also a king from 1360- 1440.Son of a slave woman and an Aztec noble, he rose by military leadership to be king of the Aztec tribe in the city of Tenochtitlán in the middle of Lake Texcoco. He led his tribe in war against two powerful cities, the Tepanec city of Alcohua and the city and tribe of Azcapotzalco.They won both of those. His succesor was his brother Montezuma II.
