Monologue From 'My Dearest Martha's Letter'
My dearest Martha,

There is not a single second that goes by when I'm trekking through these dirty trenches and forget about my love for you. In fact, my love for you is the only thing that pulls me up the mountains every day and over the other side. Where I wish for it all to end. Where is wish to see you. I am longing to see your beautiful face on the other side. where I hope we can be happy, together again.

What is it like back at home? How's the weather? I can imagine that the sky is clear and the clouds are white and fluffy… Just like soft, sweet marshmallows. Soft and sweet… like you. You make me feel safe and comforted Martha. Something in which I need to survive out here. I have my men, my friends and reminders from my family. But most importantly, I have the letters… The letters from you. I fight and fight. Not only in the battle but for the chance to see you again. To maintain our love, our friendship. I, I…

What have you been up to? Working hard? I'm sure you have been. You always were a hard worker Martha. When I return home, I can't wait to hear about everything you've been doing since I've been gone. I am certain you'll have some amazing stories for me. Me on the other hand… I'm not sure if you could describe my adventures as 'amazing'. But I sure have had

One of my best men. One of my greatest men! Ted Lavender. He was just a young man. A smart guy, with outstanding potential. How did he die you ask… He was shot. Shot down by a Vietnam soldier. I remember it perfectly. It was all so sudden… I was caught up in a daydream, a short, sweet, beautiful daydream… Thinking about you and your smooth, smooth skin… You're like a poet Martha… Short and sweet. I remember you know Martha. I remember how much you love poetry. To read and to write… BOOM! It all happened so quickly! All so fast! I couldn't stop it. But there he lay… On the ground in front of me. He was going, going, gone. It broke me down, It knocked me

I cannot stand the hurt in my bleeding heart anymore. John, oh John, it would be easier if you left your wife and flower out the purity of our love with me. We could leave; go to a place where we will be satisfied for the rest of our lives. But you broke my heart. I tried to couple with you. I still remember my accelerated heartbeat when our bodies came closer; you should have kissed me. But you did not. Instead, you do not want to know anything about me. I truly thought that you would fall in my arms. And I did not feel guilty about our forbidden love for one breath of my life. I would do it again, just for you John, for our love. I never felt such true love in my life. I never had a mother who would love me no matter what happens. You were the only light in my life. And this light disappeared when you decided to turn your back on me. You cannot resist me, I know that. You still love me, you have to love me, and I am the only one for you. Lady Capulet tries to convince her daughter, Juliet, to marry Paris by telling her how beautiful he is, how he has many good qualities, and how he needs a wife. Lady Capulet uses a metaphor to describe Paris to convince her daughter to marry him, comparing Paris to a book of love that is missing a cover. After Lady Capulet encourages her daughter, Juliet, to see Paris’s beauty by telling her to examine his features, she expresses, “Find written in the margent of his eyes. This precious book of love, this unbound lover, To beautify him only lacks a cover.” This quote demonstrates how Lady Capulet uses a metaphor, comparing Paris to an interesting book of love without a cover, to convince her daughter to examine him at the feast that her…

Once upon a time, there was a small town called Everbloom. In the, dense, green, woods that bordered that town lived a fiery “orphan” girl named Scarlet. The 17 year old had blazing red hair, ash grey eyes and olive skin that, from being in the woods most of her life, faded to relatively pale. She was known to be mysterious, but really she was just like any other anti-social teen. Well, sorta.…

It was sad to read that he died the way he did while he was in the middle of having fun with his best friend, Rat Kiley. Rat had to see his best friend blown up by a booby trap right in front of him. Tim O’Brien states they had to “shinny up and peel him off” (295). That would have been really hard for Rat to peel his best friend off from a tree. The whole situation is sad because no one wants to see a close friend of theirs die like that but I was not shocked by it. Many people in the war develop close friends and at some point have had to see them die right in front of their eyes. It is tragic thing, but it is something that comes with entering a…

It's a strange feeling to me to know that every letter I write to you might be the last I will write or you shall read. Every day that goes by, I try to remind myself of that. I've been trying my hardest to fit in and to try to do my job as well as I can but there's something wrong. I just don't feel like I'm the man I was prior to the time I came here. One foggy night I was with my friends. We just got done eating around 11:00. So we went outside real quick to get a smoke and we saw legs running through the alley as we walked out. We looked around for a minute because we were all suspicious. We didn’t know who it was or what it was all we know is we heard a loud yelp. But then all the sudden we looked down at the dumpster to a find a image in the dumpster. We all screamed in fright, we didn’t know what to do then we saw a girl running up and down the alley. We looked down and there was blood running down the dumpster this time. The legs were still dangling down. We thought we might have known the person but then we came to a conclusion that it wasn’t her. All that we know is the murder is a girl.…
