Module Journal entry 2
Module 2 Journal My goal after I graduate from Grand Canyon University is to be a teacher at Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB). I was a student at that school until I graduated in 1999. The whole time I was there, there was not a moment where I did not enjoy myself. I was always interacting with my classmates and teachers. I enjoyed being involved with the after-school activities, including the sports. I played football, basketball and track all my high school years. As far back as I can remember, I have always liked the school environment. And I wanted to continue that kind of life, so I decided right then and there that I was going to be a teacher. I also wanted to be a coach and help with teams in track or basketball. So I had my goals set: go to college after I graduate, obtain a bachelor’s degree in Education, and then get a teaching job at FSDB. That is where my happiness lies in, being a teacher. Nobody should not settle down for something they would not be happy doing. My biggest goal right now is to graduate from Grand Canyon University and obtain a bachelor’s degree in Education. That is my ultimate goal, but to accomplish that, I have to stay motivated. So I set a few short-term goals for myself. One of them is focusing on one class at a time. Passing each class is my short-term goal, and for every class I pass with a good grade, I know I will be motivated for the next class. My other short-term goals are to keep up with my participation in class every day and maintain at least 4 days a week interacting with my fellow classmates. I also want to maintain at least 3.0 grade point average. With GCU’s help, my career dreams will be within my reach. Without a degree in hand, I will not be able to advance at my work. Without it, I see no hope for brighter future. That is why it is important that I complete my education and graduate with a bachelor’s degree. For almost 10 years I have been working in a boarding

The most important goal for my future is to obtain a satisfying career. Growing up I saw how unhappy my mother was working at a job that she hated just to make enough to provide for our family. I further understood how important a satisfying career was to me when I started working the graveyard shift as a dockworker during community college. I strongly disliked almost everything about the job including the exposure to extreme temperatures, the job’s filthy nature, the long and irregular hours, and most of all because it was unfulfilling. I was miserable with my occupation but I was dependent on it because it was lucrative and provided me with a way to support myself through college. I worked fulltime at this job for two years while also being a fulltime student until I transferred to SIU. The dread that I felt toward my job made me work harder academically because I knew that someday my hard work would amount to a career that I thoroughly…

These long-term goals I have shared with you are only some of the few I have set for myself. Through my youth I have also set short-term goals such as entering the National Honor Society (NHS) in my DODEA School. In order to achieve this goal I organized myself, and focused on all the important details such as 3.4 GPA or higher, community service hours, and other leadership positions that were required in order to apply for a position. Once this goal was met, more effort from my part was put forth in order to obey the code of conduct and fulfill new expectations.…

My professional goal is to become a teacher with hard work and dedication I know I can reach my lifetime goal. For my extra-curricular activities, I have attended the Head Start at Brookhaven Community College where I have volunteered over thirty hours in a semester to get myself prepared for the profession. Going to the local Head Start gave me the opportunity to see if this is really what I want to do for many years. I put myself in a position where I actually enjoyed what I was doing, I had patience which a lot of people don’t have to teach younger kids. I worked with three to five years old, I had to show them I was the leader. In my four years of High School, I have taken my time out to be a leader in my school. I was vice-president freshman…

Passing all of my classes in fall-term is my short term academic goal. By the end of fall term i expect my GPA to be an 3.0 nothing lower.
