5 reasons Modi shouldn't be PM

I'm not a political commentator any anything of that sort. I'm just an Indian citizen with a voter's ID card getting worried that this democracy is being turned into a farce by a very strong PR machinery trying to make an unworthy and undeserving man the Prime Minister of this country. Yes you guessed it right. I'm anti-Modi. But the worry is that I was somehow a little scared to put that across this bluntly.

Everywhere I've said a single anti-Modi statement I've been lashed out at. It starts on as a debate with someone I had no bias against and ends with me discovering an anti-Muslim fanatic with a foul heart.

So I've basically jotted down all the reasons in the world why NaMo should NOT be the prime minister of this nation and here goes. I'll try to put is as simply and as concisely as possible. Here are all the reasons I will not vote Modi. And here are all the reasons I (and a lot many others) would get nightmares in case NaMo IS elected Prime Minister.

Hindu Majoritarian Agenda: Obviously the first point. Our NaMo doesn't care much about people of different religious views. Obviously in a nation that's secular we cannot possibly be electing someone who has shown every sign of being biased throughout his political career.

Authoritarian and Selfish: Modi has displayed great capability of being shrewd. He never talks in terms of 'we'. All his achievements are in terms of 'I'. He is the man because of who a big rift is starting to appear in BJP. What is worse is his only agenda seems to be saving his vote bank. During the recent Uttarakhand disaster, I was shocked to see Modi

This Topic is an interesting one because many throughout the country are divided on the topic of the Prime Minister and whether or not they hold too much power within their role. With past allegations of corruption, many are blinded by the true powers and limitations of what properly defines the role of our Prime Minister.…

Indian democracy and secularism face a menace from the forces of militant Hinduism which hope to turn India into a Hindu state. What is the nature of the present challenge to secularism in India? What do Hindu nationalists hope to achieve by making their government more assertively Hindu? One can begin to answer these questions by examining the large body of writing on secularism recently produced by Indians. Academics, lawyers, journalists, and political citizens have explored the many facets of Indian secularism. These works provide clues to the nature of Hindu nationalism's appeal in contemporary Indian politics. These…

There is hardly any other country in the world than India which has a great diversity of culture, religion, language, tradition, community etc. People live and think in terms of their respective religions, faiths and tongues, and seek to serve their selfish ends without thinking of the national good. Such thinking is dangerous and is bound to lead to the disintegration of the country in the long run.…

Pitching a specific leader as a driver of change and to mobilise voters' support is hardly a new political strategy. After all, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had projected L.K. Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee its prime ministerial candidates in the past (remember the Ab ki baari Atal Bihari slogan in 1996?). The Congress party's projection of Indira Gandhi as the country's tallest leader with its 'Indira lao desh bachao' tagline in the 1970s is another such example. But the personal rhetoric had been tied, and sometimes made subservient, to the political parties to which these leaders belonged. With his landslide win in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi has rewritten the rules of the game and redefined Indian politics. Brand Modi has not only captured popular imagination but also trumped Brand BJP. How did it happen?…

    Secularism in India

But the sense of pessimism has been encouraged again and again. Sometimes through the Sikh riots and sometimes through the incidents like Babri Masjid. And horribly enough even with India stepping in the 21st century with a never before economic growth rate elections in India can be easily won by playing the “hindutva” card. Narendra Modi a person who brought so much development to the state of Gujarat was not assured by his hard work but was satisfied with the knowledge of strategic communal politics in order to ensure that he will be called back in the state legislative for the next five years again. In very vivid words it is a matter of shame how the legislature and the politicians have been cheating the common Indian for a prolonged period. Corruption and all other issues are undoubtedly black spots on the nation but compromising with the very principles on which the nation was built is simply unacceptable. More so when the compromise is invited on grounds of humanitarian ethics.…

    CA Election

When I talk about choosing a person, I feel like going with an independent candidate rather than someone with bad characters from political parties. I hear that even Dons are rallying behind the political leaders to get a ticket through proportional representation, and would not be surprised if tomorrow I see them taking an oath, promising to decide the future of our country. I understand voting to an independent candidate without knowing his/ her abilities or knowledge to contribute to the country would further deepen the crisis. But did the previous CA voting made any difference when votes were casted to those who were so called able and knowledgeable? When one of ours former Prime Minister’s loss was flashed in media, I regretted the decision taken by the people of that region because not only an individual lost but also the country lost a chance to get a lawmaker with such knowledge and abilities. But as the time passed and after 6 years to the previous election, I realized that people are never wrong, votes were never wrong. Even after the rejection by the people (from two…
