Prophets: Messengers From God
Prophets were on Earth for thousands of years. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, a prophet is a member of some doctrine, cause, or movement but there is a lot more in what a prophet actually is. When someone thinks of a prophet they might think about prophets from the old testament, or maybe some prophets in the modern day. Some of the prophets that are most common in the Old Testament are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel , Daniel, and Jonah. Some prophets in the modern day are Martin Luther King, Pope John Paul II, and Mother Teresa.
A prophet is someone who speaks for God. God sends prophets to stand up when kings fail their role. Some prophets foretold that God will send a Messiah who would save us. In addition prophets surprisingly threatened evil leaders, warned sinners, consoled the suffering the suffering, advised rulers, and taught mortality. They call people back to God in times where they stray away from God.
Ezekiel is an example of a prophet from the Old Testament. Ezekiel was living in about 597 B.C. God come to Ezekiel in a dream. He was a priest who was deported from Jerusalem to Babylon. Ezekiel was a very colorful character. He was very dramatic. He warned his people about the destruction of Israel. Ezekiel got his vision from God in the city of Babylon. She is a great example of a modern day prophet because she shows qualities and mission of a modern day prophet. She was born on August 26, 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia as Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She took her vows on May 24, 1931 taking the name of Teresa. She truly demonstrated how God wanted to follow his holy example. She gave herself to the poorest of the poor by living in the Indian slums. She took on the poor life as she helped the people she would help. She also gave herself fully to Jesus by teaching the outcasts in society. She died on September 5, 1997 in Kolkata,
