Mock Trial Reflection
Mock Trial Reflection Paper

May I please the court! Thankfully, I never uttered those words during a trial. Mock Trial was difficult, yet full of enjoyable experiences. I joined Mock Trial for two reasons: to make new friends and to gain some form of law experience. For me, both of those goals were accomplished. I made a few friends, one of them being Adam. I learned courtroom procedure and etiquette. Mock Trial is a wonderful organization, yet that wasn't always reflected in our actions. I still don’t comprehend why we were so discourteous towards other teams. I understand the notion that The Spirit of AMTA is a recognition that coaches don't want us to win, but Depaul could have atleast been cordial to competing teams. Instead we were stealing

My assumption is that since there were issues with enrolling me in the Mock class, it was questionable if I was actually going to return or not. By the end of Mock, I feel as though I learned more by being an alternate than having a concrete role. Being an alternate gave me a wide variety of practice in multiple roles and the ability to understand the case from multiple perspectives. What helped the most was By-buster. Having no idea what role you would perform until 30 minutes before trial, was exhilarating yet stressful. Overtime, I felt more confident in a courtroom and realized that I was picking up on mannerisms that would have taken me a much longer time to achieve. One of these mannerisms, was being able to adapt and think quicker on your feet. I remember at the beginning of mock if I was told to lay more foundation or rephrase my question, I couldn't get to counsel table any quicker. Now I am able to take a breath and think about what I need to say. It also helps to remind myself that everything else pales in comparison than standing in silence for a minute and half during my open. I would encourage more people to go to by-buster if possible.
We were that Mock Trial would be an extensive time commitment. The coaches were very forthcoming tell us about that. I definitely thought you guys were exaggerating. Inbetween the tournaments, the team practices, the Monday practices, and classes the time I had left for other actives

Jim Dunn is the assistant County Attorney and somehow finds time in his busy work schedule to coach. The second coach, Allison Krehbiel, is the Nicollet County Judge and allows the team to use her court room and other rooms in the court house for practice. Mr. Warren, the third coach keeps the team running by taking care of the scheduling and dealing with the school. All of the coaches have families to get home to and practices already go until six. Adding more time to practices would take away time from their families and take away much needed homework time from the students. Time is money, the more you spend the less you have. By adding more coaches each member will get the one on one time needed and practices will run more efficiently. The members that have been in mock trial previous years, know more than people who are just joining. Since the team doesn’t have enough coaches, old…

    9health Fair Reflection

On April 22, 2017, five classmates and I took part volunteering at the 9Health Fair. Before showing up we all were e-mailed instructions on the Health fair protocols for taking blood pressure (BP), performing Body Mass index (BMI) and pulse oximetry (02 sat). When arriving we all kind of gravitated to a station. I ended up working with Allie and Karen in the BP/02 sat Station. When the fair began, it seemed that we were pretty slow, so I volunteered to stand by the blood draw station informing patients where our BP/O2 Sat stations was located. While working the line trying to get customers to our station, I heard a thump. One of the people who had their blood drawn, stood up and then fell straight back to the ground. I watch as this…

One of my favorite extracurricular activities I participated in was Mock Trial. It consisted of long hours and preparation. I learned scripts, objections, and how to just act in court in general. This year was hilariously disastrous. We had gotten a new coach, and he decided that we needed to do more prep and have less practices, but completely neglected to remember that this year's team comprised of mostly first time participants. He also kept changing everyone's roles. Pretending to be a witness gave me such a thrill, like could I really pull this off? And this year I did, I received compliments from the judge and the other team. I would like to say we won but we didn’t. It is never our goal to win, but to learn from our mistakes. And…

    Essay On Jury Duty

My thoughts on my early morning experience during jury duty selection-I noticed a few elements of successful teaching. The judge was very explicit in explaining the judicial process for selecting a jury, and in explaining the process for a civil case. She presented, gave examples, and even checked for understanding throughout the process. It was funny how I started connecting her questioning of the potential jurors to be like TDQs in the way that each question was essential to some element of the case (were there any connections to the parties involved, the businesses, workers, was there a past experience like the case that could impact your thinking or decision…

Over the course of the past two years I have become a lot more familiar with the court process here in Ada County.
