The ship is hit with a typhoon which Ahab takes to mean he will soon face Moby Dick, but his first mate starbuck believes it to be a bad omen and considers killing Ahab to stop the imminent death of the crew. Ahab confronts the whale and Fedallah gets caught by a harpoon line and dragged overboard to his death. Moby dick, with Fedallah’s corpse caught on it, rams the Pequod sinking it. The book “Moby Dick” is a very interesting book with many interesting characters. The main character of this story is Captain Ahab. Captain Ahab is a man who is obsessed with finding the Great White Whale. I believe that the most interesting thing about Captain Ahab is how he is so obsessed with trying to find the great white whale that in my head I think that his obsession will make him insane. The reason for his obsession for finding the Great White Whale came from When Moby Dick Bit off one of his legs which left him with a prosthetic leg made out of whalebones. This is the reason for Captain Ahab's obsession…

    5. Why did Melville choose to write about whaling? Why was the industry significant? He chose to write about whaling, because he himself was once in the whaling business. The whaling business is important because whale’s oils can be used as lubricants and lantern fuel. The bones and blubber can also be very resourceful and helpful to human sustainability.…

The words I’ve found that are significant to the plot, character, setting, and theme, and decoded are; marauding, pandemonium, forlorn, improbability, and crystalline. I came across the word “marauding” in page 119 and the meaning it is going about in search of things to steal or people to attack. In this case the hyena was one of the characters in this story who’ve ended up marauding, it did not attack Pi or steal anything from him, but it did attack and kill its fellow boat mates one by one starting off with killing and eating the zebra, then the orangutan last before the tiger, whom Pi named Richard Parker, had revealed itself after hiding in the bottom of the life boat and killed the hyena. The next word I found that can relate to the plot is in page 113, which is “pandemonium”. The word pandemonium means wild and noisy disorder or confusion, or uproar.…

The killing of another on behalf of a previous wrong—revenge—saturates the novel Moby Dick by Herman Melville. In this novel, Ahab, the obsessed captain of the Pequod, seeks to annihilate the white whale Moby Dick. In his unnatural fixation on the whale, Captain Ahab manipulates the other sailors on the ship into following after his own goal. His unceasing desire to kill however stems from his earlier encounter with the whale. The captain’s obsession constitutes the plot for the entire novel. Captain Ahab’s indefatigable enmity toward Moby Dick generates hysteria inside of him as well as others, instigating the plot of the novel.…
