Abstract
Software has to be developed for automating the manual railway reservation system. The system is to be used on a mobile phone. Due to the huge number of mobile subscribers, there is a real demand to provide such a service to mobile clients. Despite technology’s significant advantages, the primary disadvantage is that in market there is not a single software in which a person can book a railway ticket through phone .Thus, we propose a Mobile Based Railway Reservation Application in which a user can check the availability of the seat in the train, book a ticket, cancel a ticket, and make a payment through a mobile phone. The objective of the Project is to design software to fully automate the process of issuing a railway ticket through a mobile phone.
2. Mobile Based Railway Reservation Application
This application has the sole intention of developing an interface to the railway passengers so that they can book, cancel, check the status of their ticket, check the seat availability and calculate the fare as per user requirements The application resides on the clients mobile where he issues commands get the desired services maintaining either HTTP connection(via GPRS) or using the SMS services or both Entire information of the system will be centralized at the server where a database is stored on the top of which using an GUI based application is working. The administrator will look after the maintenance of the database using this application
