Marketing Defined A personal definition and two additional definitions from two sources for the term marketing will help identify the complete meaning. An explanation of the importance of marketing in organizational success is based on the marketing definitions presented. Three examples from the business world to support the explanations in regard to the definition of marketing will be provided.

Marketing case studies reveal the importance of marketing in the business world based on the definitions in the second paragraph. Adidas marketing strategies for their targeted audience developed ground-breaking strategies acting as a sponsor for the Olympic Games in London 2012. This strategy set a pattern to engage with the younger generation throughout the world. Because Adidas markets to a preferred audience, they take cultural and social differences into account during the development phase. Marketing for sports products has changed significantly since the company’s inception in 1949. While setting objectives such as increasing the market share, company’s like Adidas meet challenges for marketing strategies every year. London sets more trends than any other country and this is where Adidas focus is. The strategies met the goals to create a clear association as Sportswear Partner of London 2012, connect and stimulate the 14-19 year old audience to help coerce the product preference., deliver a licensed product return on investment (ROI), and ultimately achieve the goal of the most talked about brand name in the same year. Several major company products have been highly successful through the many years in operations. The marketing mix strategy that includes advertising, selling and delivering products to people and continues to seek a higher rate on return do not fear success. Planning, preparation and organization are key to the planning phase seeking success in the end.
