Mitch Albom's Tuesdays With Morrie
Tuesdays with Morrie, a book everyone should read I think Tuesdays with Morrie is an outstanding book. In this book, Morrie Schwartz teaches you great moral values, explains good ways of life, and gives you lessons on how to think. I believe everyone should read this book, it might change your point of view on life. Morrie talks a lot about being young, and how it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. “I know what a misery being young can be, so don’t tell me it’s so great.” (Albom 117) What Morrie means by this is even though there are a few good things about being young, he believes that there are more disappointments than there are excitements. In my opinion he’s not saying that his childhood was bad; he just doesn’t wish to go back. Morrie

The book was very enlightening and interesting. Although it was gruesome and gory in many parts of the book, I enjoyed reading it overall. I especially enjoyed the less formal writing style and diction of the author Mary Roach. It almost seemed like colloquial language and she was having a conversation with me. This made…

Tuesdays with Morrie, was based on a true story about friendship and lessons learned. It’s about a sports writer, Mitch and former sociology professor, Morrie, who is in his last days of life after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and their rekindled relationship after many years. They first met on the campus grounds at Brandeis University. This never forgotten relationship was simply picked back up at a crucial time in both Mitch’s and Morrie’s life. After seeing his professor in an interview on the show “Nightline”, Mitch is reminded of a promise he made sixteen years earlier to keep in touch. Since the airing of that show, Mitch met with Morrie every Tuesday to learn and understand all the wisdom and lessons of life. These discussion topics included: death, fear, aging, marriage, family, forgiveness, a meaningful life, and so on. This story took place in Morrie’s study in West Newton, Massachusetts. Overall, this book was about Morrie’s and Mitch’s final class: The Meaning of Life.…

A change of perspective is an experience. It is encouraged by a compilation of both positive and adverse events, leading to both re-evaluation and a greater appreciation of ones sense of self-identity and a better understanding of those around them. This experience is unveiled in the texts Looking for Alibrandi directed by Kate Woods and Tuesday’s with Morrie by Mitch Ablom.…

According to Aristotle, “A tragic hero is a character who is not eminently good and just, yet whose misfortune is brought about not by vice and depravity, but by some error or frailty…” The tragic hero has a weakness that causes them to have an inner struggle. The literature piece goes on to narrate the inner struggle the tragic hero has as well as how they overcome it. The hero goes through a cycle that helps them conquer their struggle and become a better person. Therefore, through an examination of departure, test/trials and transformation of the protagonist in the written work The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence, Hagar Shipley and Tuesday’s with Morrie by Mitch Albom, Mitch Album, it is visible that both protagonists have gone through the journey…

I truly enjoyed reading the novel A Lesson before Dying. I loved how this book pretty much teaches you a lesson by trying not to be at the wrong place at the wrong time or hanging out with the wrong kind of people. The quote below is from the book and it was one of my favorites. “I probably would not have noticed it at all had a butterfly, a yellow butterfly with dark spots like ink dots on its wings,…

Mitch Albom’s, Tuesdays with Morrie, is a book about compassion and the reality of life amongst a college professor and one of his students. This story is about an older professor teaching and informing his younger student about the crucial lessons of life as he is facing death. “We’re involved in trillions of little acts to just keep going. So we don’t get into the habit of standing back and looking at our lives and saying, Is this all? Is this all I want? Is something missing?” (64-65). Throughout the book Morrie Schwartz tries to share lessons with Mitch Albom that he had to experience the hard way. Every Tuesday, both Morrie and Mitch would get together and have several deep discussions about love, forgiveness, marriage, and money. The…
