As its name implies, Lastminute.com is good for late deals. For hotels, this can be in the form of "top secret hotels", where discounts of up to 50 per cent are possible if one willing to book blind. The organization also impresses for the sheer amount of stuff it offers. As with its rival (expedia) online travel agents; package holidays, flights and car hire are just part of offers that can be booked on the site. It also offers spa breaks, restaurant deals, theme park packages, "experiences" (everything from indoor skydiving to chocolate making). As such, it scores highly for inspiration. Prominent on the home page are sections titled "Thinking of going away?" and "Thinking of going out?" – with suggestions to the questions posed.…

    1. Affirmative Action is a policy which attempts to address long standing opportunity inequalities within our society. By setting different standards for those groups who have been denied opportunities, it is hoped that a greater percentage of people within those groups will be able to reverse the status quo and take full advantage of opportunities within our society. On that basis, Affirmative Action is morally defensible. On the other hand, when individuals within one group are extended opportunities without meeting the standards that others must meet for the same opportunities, it is at the expense of the others, who may therefore be denied opportunities, even though they may have met a higher standard. On this basis, Affirmative Action may not be morally indefensible. Our Constitution is not colour-blind and recognises the need to take race and gender into account in making certain decisions. It sanctions the use of restorative measures such as affirmative action…

Aldi and Lidl: International expansion of two German grocery discounters1 It’s the best business model for retail in the world. Philippe Suchet, food industry consultant, BNP Paribas With a worldwide annual sales volume of € 3.7 trillion in 2007 and an average annual sales growth of 2.7% during the last ten years, the grocery retailing industry can be considered as one of the world’s key economic sectors. Over the last decades, grocery discounters such as Aldi and Lidl have strengthened their position in the grocery retailing industry – especially in Germany and Europe. With their no-frills approach, they have led to significant changes in the industry and have challenged many companies, which operate other store formats such as supermarkets or hypermarkets. In this context, a Financial Times report on international retailing noted in 1995: "The spread of the discount format has been particularly disruptive to Europe's grocery retail industry and has driven retailers to examine cross-border markets." Exhibit 1 illustrates the leading grocery retailing companies in the world and on a…
