Mission Trip
Dear ___________________,
My name is and I am a senior this year at Monroe High School in Monroe, Michigan. After prayer and consideration, I have decided to take part in a mission trip to Jamaica for my senior spring break trip. The opportunity is offered though Church of God’s Mountain Assembly in Monroe. This will be a firsthand experience teaching and learning from God’s children in Jamaica.
The main objective of our mission team will be to learn and teach our Jamaican brothers and sisters, to see life through their eyes, then come home and share the vision. While we are there our mission team will also be helping to build churches in the nearby villages in Jamaica. We will visit several schools where leaders from the Jamaican church are trained. We expect to work side by side with the Jamaican Christians in the seminaries and Bible schools. Our team will be leaving April 26th and return on May 3rd.
I am writing to give you an opportunity to participate in this ministry. Please consider praying for our team. Pray for the new friends we will make in Jamaica. And Pray for me: for health and protection on the trip, my effectiveness in ministry and ability to learn new things from this experience. Pray that I will find the financial support to make this trip possible. Pray especially that our team will return with a real vision to share with the churches in the United States.
Another way you can participate is to support me financially. The cost of the trip is $1,200 per person. Our team members are expected to raise the expenses on our own. I am trusting God to move in people’s hearts, leading them to donate toward this mission trip. If you feel that you could participate in this way, please: a. Make a check payable to Reegan D. Martell. b. Write “Jamaica Mission” on the memo line. c. Send your check to me at the address on this letter.
Whether you are able to give financially or not, please pray for me from April 26th to May 3rd. Thank you very

Aside from working as a successful business woman, Jean spent a majority of her time volunteering at the Cleveland Diocese Youth Ministry. Her focus was to correct the lives of the poverty-stricken and troubled youth. Jean was touched by her work and inspired to do more. The Youth Ministry was also where Jean first heard of her life changing missionary work. The objective: a diocesan mission project in El Salvador. The goal of the mission was to spread the gospel and mend the lives of the poor and broken. From the moment she heard of the incredible opportunity, she knew she was destined to fulfill the task. Jean accredited this feeling to her close relationship with God. “She claimed her decision to be "a gut feeling," and said, "I want to get closer to Him, and that's the only way I think I can"” (IRTF).…

When I was in the eighth grade I went on a weeklong mission trip with my youth group to Houston, Texas. This trip was a turning point in my life spiritually and mentally, completely changing my thought process of inner city missions at the time. There is a ministry there called CSM that invites youth groups to come and they will take the group to certain places in the city where they can serve and get a feel for the need there and many places. This trip was very impacting for me and I am still looking back on it and realizing the benefits.…

My perspectives of life and morality will allow me to contribute to Liberty University’s missions in a number of ways. I see my purpose in life as merely a chance to change lives and to obey the calling that God places on my heart. I believe it is my jobs as a child of God to be the hands and feet of Christ no matter where that takes me. As a pastor’s daughter, I have been taught the perspectives of life and morality and how they reflect the way I live my life. I keep my perceptions of life and morality positive so I am assured my light for Christ is never mistaken or never overlooked. These perspectives will allow me to contribute a lot towards Liberty University’s missions and will allow God to use me for the advantage of His glory.…

"People tell me I am brave. People tell me I am strong. People tell me good job. Well here is the truth of it. I am really not that brave, I am not really that strong, and I am not doing anything spectacular. I am just doing what God called me to do as a follower of Him. Feed His sheep, do unto the least of His people." These words from Katie Davis speak volumes of this young woman's heart for the people of Uganda. In December of 2006, 18 year-old Katie Davis from Brentwood, Tennessee, traveled to Uganda on a missions trip she did when she was on her school's winter break. She was immediately captivated with the people and the culture. Completely impacted and changed, she decided to go to Uganda and follow her heart and passion for the Lord.…

As Christians we have a message of hope. We are taught in Proverbs 13:12, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”1 We know that hope as Jesus Christ, the Messiah who came to save us. As the most commonly known scripture of our world tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”2 However, many people in our world today still do not know Him as Savior and Lord of their life. As Christians our mission, as was the mission of Christ is to lead others to a saving knowledge of Himself. God uses us as His children to help fulfill the mission of calling everyone unto Himself. This paper will develop a theology of missions by looking at the Old and New…

The organization our church partnered with is call United Christians International, which has had unbelievable effects on the region. The couple who created this organization were originally from our church and now live in Haiti running the many different programs they have set up. They are able to minister to the Haitians through nutrition programs, camps for the kids, the building of a church, and the construction of a small elementary school and university. A village that was once dominated by voodoo had been transformed to a community with many believers, filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit.…

A mission trip can provide an opportunity for Americans to share their talents and resources with the people of third world countries. While in a foreign country, one can build wells, vaccinate, donate, educate, and share the Christian faith. Working to improve the lives of poorer nations also has tremendous rewards for the volunteers. You will get so much more than you give. Volunteering abroad will broaden your perspective, give you a chance to see the benefits of your donation, and change your life forever by giving you a competitive edge in the job market, developing unique friendships, and strengthening your relationship with God.…

I have come to understand that I have an innate urge to help those more disadvantaged than I. I believe that God has placed this urge in my so that I can be an instrument of his will. We all have the potential and are called to me such an instrument and that calling comes in different avenues for each person. I believe that I have found one such avenue. I learned God understands and know the potential in each person and will task him or her with only the things they have the power to handle. I pray that as the years go forth and I enter into my professional career this experience and other experience will grant me the knowledge on how to create a nonprofit organization that will help the children of Haiti gain a proper education. I this yearning to construct something of that nature could only be placed in me from God and that’s how I know that I will be able to bring it into…

When the realization that my final days of high school were vastly approaching, I began to ask myself what I would do with my life. From that point, the thoughts began to creep in of what things I could do to help better prepare myself for the future that was being pushed upon me. Seeing that I have known since a young age that I wanted to be an educator, my exploration of a summer job that would involve surrounding myself with children began. After endless hours of internet searching for the job that would best suit me, I discovered a Christian summer camp that was very much a place that would cease to leave my mind for the next few days. Days passed by and prayers were sent up when I finally came to realize that this was the job I needed. Working at a Christian summer camp would be a great job for any young person because it is a way to spread God’s word with young girls, push limits and set new goals, and it exposes the counselor to see what teachers and educators face on a day to day basis.…

It is hard to believe the number of people who asked me, “Why the heck would you want to go on a mission trip to your own backyard”. I’m sure for most people, spending a week and a half of summer in downtown Akron, Ohio does not seem fun. I, however, thought otherwise. During my time in Akron I worked for a ministry called Urban Vision, which provides afterschool programs for children in need. Too often we overlook the diversity in own community. At Urban Vision I was able to see a previously undiscovered side of Akron and, through my experiences there, I saw how truly diverse and beautiful my own community was. Realizing this I continued to volunteer at the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and Urban Vision. If there is so much to learn from…
