Jacob started his story with a statement on how his life changed as a result of one terrible event, and how that result was the product of his relationship with his grandfather. The close relationship Jacob had with Abe helped shape his identity due to the experiences they’d share and the stories Abe had told him. It is caused a shift in hid attitude throughout the journey he’d undertook after his grandfather’s death to find out who the man really had been. Throughout Miss Peregrine home of peculiar children, Jacob is forced to make important decision which uncovers the truth about his own identity, and how it differs from the man he always compared himself to Abe. Human identity reflects on the experiences they go through in life which helps them shape who they are as a person. In the beginning of Miss Peregrine home of peculiar children Abe Portman who has taken the time to share his experiences which created a bond between the two. Jacob feels as though he is understood by his grandfather because feels as if he understand where his grandfather is coming from.
