Ernest Hemingway, famous writer once said: " It is good to have an end to journey toward, but it is the journey that matters in the end." So if Journeys matter so much, do you really know what a journey is? do you?
The dictionary defines a journey as "the act of travelling from one place to another" but a journey is much more complex than just going from a to b. A journey is something that changes, transforms, uplifts, rewards us, challenges and depresses. An no they arent always tanglible and u may never know when they start. A Journey is big or small. It can be big and complicated such as the cure to cancer or something as simple and small are your trip on the bus this morning.
Journeys, as they come in different shapes and sizes can even overlap. Journeys can inspire reflection. For example If you were to go to a trip to a poor orphanage in Africa you not only would be entailing on a physical journey but also one that challenges and uplifts you on a inner journey, dealing with poverty and provoking reflection
Because Journeys are more than just where your going physically, journeys can help us to confirm our beliefs by what we experience and in this way also facillitate growth. Journeys may not always be easy and this fact may bring to light about who we really are, and spark us to grow in certain areas of life and thus invovle the exploration of self.
Journeys also can lead to profound differences in how we act and think. They can shape our very thoughts, desires, ambitions and values. For example if I was to go on a journey where I met someone struggling with cancer and yet they were joyful it would lead to a profound difference in my attiude to suffering whether that be physically, emotionally, imaginatevly, internally or spiritually.
My Chosen text for today is largely related to spiritual and inner journeys but also touches on physical and imaginative journeys. My Chosen text is a poem called "footprints in
