This course is a computer concepts course that also requires you to develop competencies in using spreadsheets and databases. You will use all components of this course in future management courses. The course is highly interactive. You will need to come to class prepared to discuss the assigned reading, as well as prepared to work on the PC lab for that particular day. The reading and lecture material will be examined via three exams. Competency in use of spreadsheets and databases will be examined via exams and projects.

2. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

The following learning outcomes will be accomplished upon successfully completing this course:

1. The students will demonstrate competencies in the use of the Microsoft Access database.

2. The students will demonstrate competencies in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.

3. The students will be able to effectively design databases to be compatible with business processes.

4. The students will be able to manage and analyze data using Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau. Tableau's data visualization software is provided through the Tableau for Teaching program.

    AACS1733 Information Technology and Systems ASSIGNMENT 2014/2015 Objective This coursework aims to provide students an opportunity to explore the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint so as to enhance their understanding of the application software features in spreadsheet and presentation. Grouping This is a group-based assignment. Student must form a group with 4 members and maximum 5 members (ACCORDING TO ATTENDANCE NAME LIST SEQUENCE). Plagiarism All work is to be the result of the students own individual and group effort. Assignment contents are not allowed to be copied from the Internet or from other students. A student who plagiarizes will receive zero point credit on the assignment. Late Policy The assignment should be submitted on the due date stated below unless there are legitimate reasons as to why a student can not complete the assignment by due date. As a general rule, no extension of time will be granted. Assignment received after the due date without legitimate reason will be penalized. Submission date Week 10s Friday Assignment return week Week 14 Assessment This assignment contributes 40 of the overall course assessment. The marks allocations are divided into 2 sections for a specific group. The first section is students workbook (as required in Section A). The second section is students power point slides (as required in Section B). Each group is 4 members and maximum 5 members according to the attendance name list sequence. Assignment Report Format 5 marks Submission Form (as a cover page), Assessment Form, Plagiarism Statement, Plagiarism Statement Form 2. Acknowledgement 3. Table of contents 4. References 5. Hand-in hardcopy (MS Excel and MS Power Point) in report format and softcopy (MS Excel and MS Power Point) in CD format.
