Miranda Baker In The Scarlet Ibis
I am Miranda Baker, however I’m like no one. I have a hard time relating to anyone, I’m quite a unique person. If I had to choose a character to relate to, I would relate to Doodle’s older brother from The Scarlet Ibis. I am alike this character because I blame myself for things that really aren’t my fault, I always push my brothers to push themselves and to go on past their abilities, mentally and physically, and I go with my brother everywhere and spend a lot of time with him. In all of these ways I am alike Doodle’s older brother, however I’m unlike him in many way as well. I blame myself for things that in the end shouldn’t be my fault. When I was nine, I went on vacation to Myrtle Beach. I left my dog, who was eleven years old and named Dakota with my grandma. When I …show more content…
I am not alike this character in many ways. I don’t have any little brothers with disabilities, or little brothers at all. Nor do I want to suffocate them with a pillow. I’m not embarrassed of my brothers, for any type of reason. I don’t call my brothers names, so people don't expect much from them. I don’t think they’re a let down, they’re quite great, intelligent, and impressive people. Of course this character is a very round character, from the beginning to the end of the story the change quite a bit. I definitely relate to the character at the end of the story, but hardly at all in the beginning. Even though I have a hard time relating to people in general, or story book characters, I relate to this character. Doodle’s older brother is different than most characters and experiences things that change his personality throughout the story. Judging on that he blames himself for things that really aren’t his fault, always pushes his brother to push himself and to go on past his ability, mentally and physically, and he goes with his brother everywhere and spends lots of time with him, shows that we are alike in many ways. However, I relate to Doodle’s older

In the story, the narrator's parents let him tote around their weak son wherever the older brother wanted. If something bad happened to Doodle, there wouldn’t be an adult there to help with the situation. This later happens later in the story, where Doodle is dying and the narrator can do nothing about it because he is just a twelve year old boy. Also, it seems that Doodle should be staying more at home. In the story it says “with his weak heart this strain would probably kill him” (Hurst, 163) and, “His skin was very sensitive” (Hurst, 164). This says that Doodle probably wasn’t fit for the outdoors and could probably get hurt very easily. The parents should probably not have put Doodle into the inexperienced hands of the young narrator.…

The main character Adelina Amouteru and I are similar in several ways. Our appearances are not the same however, because half her face is ruined and her left eye is missing from a plague. She also has darker skin, whereas I am as pale as a ghost. She also has silverish whitish hair, and I have brown mixed with other random colors. She would be considered the black sheep of her family, and I am of mine as well. Although in her case, hers is much worse than mine because my family didn’t try to sell or kill me. Mine just thinks I’m strange. She also feeds off of anger and fear, which as strange as it sounds, I can relate to that as well. I can deal with angry or scared people better than I can with sad people. It makes no sense and is kind of…

Like I said, Doodle is a boy who is frightened of being alone but he never stated why. It may be because he has issues walking. His fear was stated a couple times throughout the passage, and at when Doodle was left behind screaming,“Brother brother don’t leave me!” the narrator almost acted as if he didn’t even care, and left Doodle behind by himself…

    Trick My Sibling Quotes

Through this story I think I most relate to Lucas because I am not the one to trick my sibling. My sibling is the one that acts most like Amy, always trying to trick me. “Amy? You’re just kidding aren’t you? That was pretty good. You know if you weren’t so funny-looking you could probably become an actress.” Pg.7. This is what I would probably end up saying in this circumstance, try to be funny but keep it on edge and be a little bit hard-nosed about it. I am more of a gullible type of person so this book relates to me a lot because Lucas in the story actually believed that his sister was under attack. “Amy? Amy, come on. Quit it.” Pg.7. This quote is when I would usually get a little fearful or nervous that it could be happening. I would…

From this picture I acquired a lot about people. For example, Frankenstein would hate being compared to his Grandfather, but yet had similarities towards him. He found traits that he didn’t like about his grandpa and somehow portrayed it towards himself, while not realizing it. I saw his grandfather in him. Though he is more funny and understanding I still see that he is no Frank-en-stein, but a…

In the 1941 film The Maltese Falcon the character Brigid O’Shaughnessy functions as a typical Femme Fatale. She possesses qualities of the classic Femme Fatale such as the ability to manipulate the males around her for self-gain. Brigid O’Shaughnessy is a very attractive woman and she knows it, she uses her beauty and sexuality to get men to do what she wants treating them like puppets on a string. In the film, Brigid plays the innocent damsel in distress card to mask her true intentions which usually works on most men because they find it irresistible and feel obligated to be the hero, especially alpha males. However, it is not just the eyes of men Miss O’Shaughnessy catches, in the beginning of the movie we see Effie Perine walk into Spade…

In a way I can relate to Jonas because I am the youngest of three and my older brothers always take care of me. When we had family issues in the past, I was like Jonas and did not know what was going on exactly, and throughout that experience my parents stayed calm to keep me calm and my oldest brother did his best to make me happy and care for me. During that experience I had to grow up quickly, like Jonas, to help my family get through it. I had to stay strong, and have the strength to be there for my brother.…

The character that I identify with the most is Enn from Gaiman (2006). Enn’s personality resembles mine Apparently people possess a comfort zone and trying to walk out of it seems unreasonable. Honestly, why would I do something that I am not formidable at? It is all reduced to necessity. When I devise something out of reach and it becomes indispensable I feel obligated to step out of my zone and reach for it. That is exactly what Enn does by acknowledging what he lacks and striving high.…

In the Middle Ages, women were not allowed to be defined outside of their husbands or their fathers. In the Renaissance, a queen is in charge of Britain and women are finally allowed to be self-defined. Many possibilities are opened up to women because life does not revolve around the brothership of man. Men, however, still think that they are superior and have power over women, and they do not like women thinking for themselves. In Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Prospero wants to have power over his daughter Miranda, but realizes that he can no longer dictate what Miranda thinks and feels by simply telling her to think and feel a certain way. By using magic, he feels like he can control her completely, but Miranda’s mind is never controlled by Prospero. Shakespeare uses the power…

Are there people in your life that have similar characteristics with the characters in the book, The Kite Runner? Sometimes when you read a book, you like it because either you find yourself in one of the characters or you find similar people in your life from that book. The Kite Runner has rich and multipronged characters in it. Especially, the relationship between specific characters has taught me a lot of things. In the book, the readers see that there are many characters with many different characteristics, in fact; Amir, the narrator of the story, tells about his childhood in Afghanistan and the relationship between him and his half-brother, Hassan. Hassan is the most sacrificing and the kindest character in the book. He is Amir’s best friend and later in the story it is revealed that he is also his half-brother. Another important character, Baba, is Amir and Hassan’s father, who is very ashamed of the fact that he is also the biological father of Hassan and keeps this as a secret until his death. Those are some of the main and the most important characters in the book. These richly described characters get the readers’ attention and hook them up to the flow of the story. The characteristics of Amir, Hassan and Baba in The Kite Runner, such as, Amir being guilt-ridden and condescending, Hassan being loyal and compassionate and finally Baba being protective and heroic, constitute the main idea that the author is trying to give the reader.…
