FIGUREHEAD: the manager performs ceremonial and symbolic duties as head of the organisation;
This role has to remain informed of all projects and issues at all times. Representing the organization they must be able to lead, inspire, and instill the confidence of all external or interpersonal business relationships to influence continued business opportunities for the organization.
LEADER: fosters a proper work atmosphere and motivates and develops subordinates;
This is one of the main functions of a manager. The manager must be responsible for those under his direction. His duties include creating the environment in which the employees work. Provides incentives and motivation to keep employees productive. As a leader he reviews the work completed and makes suggestions or corrections. He works one on one with individual workers to develop a relationship. Depending on the feedback and behavior of the employee, he promotes or disciplines their actions. The leader is responsible for the productivity of the workers. Therefore he/she needs to manage resources for the most efficient yet productive return.
LIASION: develops and maintains a network of external contacts to gather information;
The manager needs to be aware of current trends in the industry, current software and technological advances as well as what the competition is doing. They need to stay abreast of all information that relates to the business and its productivity. He/she therefore, must have contacts external to the business. Relationships with vendors, suppliers, customers, in addition to trade publications and materials. It is important to network with others in his/her field of expertise to discuss various trends and gain information. Various facts and data should be available through these contacts.
MONITOR: gathers internal and external information relevant to the organisation;
The manager must be able to get feedback from the production of his efforts and the team 's efforts. The
