Minimum Wage Job Essay

In the situation of working post-high school at a minimum wage job, I would be making $10 an hour, with an additional $2 an hour due to my ability to fluently speak Vietnamese. Working thirty-two hours a week with a bi-weekly paycheck, I would be making $768 bi-weekly, summing up to $1536 as my monthly gross pay. However, my net pay would only be $1393.15 due to $142.85 going to taxes. Based on my net pay, I decided that I will stay at home.
Moving out would not be the best option for me because I cannot afford to live the lifestyle I prefer on a minimum wage paycheck. I took to Google to look for an apartment suiting my preferences and found the Langham Apartments, located in Los Angeles, on apartmentguide.com. It costs $1015 monthly to rent a 250 square feet studio room. That would only leave me with $378.15 for other expenses. If I ended up with a minimum wage job, all the hard work I have done throughout my years of school would be for nothing. Furthermore, I want to be able to move out and have a sense of freedom. However, if I did that on a minimum wage paycheck, I would not be able to live the comfortable lifestyle I want.
