Buyer behaviour is primarily focused on the needs and wants of individuals, groups and businesses. It is important for Cadbury to understand the relevance of human needs over buyer behaviour. For example, for the products targeted at young children, it is the parents who have influence over purchasing decisions.…

Breastfeeding is an optimal approach in providing the nutritional requirements as well as well as providing immunity and positive long-term benefits. Breastfeeding provides the infant with all the necessary nutritional requirements for infants up to six months. For infants greater than six months in an addition with the introduction of solid foods is “an ideal feeding program” (American Dietetic Association, [ADA] 2009). Breastfeeding is lower in the United States than in other countries. One of the reasons is the increase in accessibility of formula. “Breastfeeding rates declined sharply because of the widespread belief that pasteurized cow’s milk eliminated the differences between human and cow’s milk feeding” (Wolf 2003 [as cited in ADA, 2009]). Many organizations are in support and promote breastfeeding for example, Center for Disease Control and Healthy People with goals of increasing the rate of breastfeeding mothers. Multiple benefits result from breastfeeding for both infant and mother. The ADA (2009) list multiple benefits; for example, bonding between mother and infant, essential nutrients, immunity properties, decrease in allergies and other intolerances, decrease in sudden infant death and long term affect of decrease in type 1 and 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and high cholesterol. There are also positive effects for the mother. For example, low risk in chronic diseases and other physical benefits as well as financial. The benefits are overwhelming for both mother and infant. In regards to benefits to society, according to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (2014), breast-feeding can reduce infant mortality, less medical cost, more productive work force and good for the environment. It is our responsibility to assist and educate new mothers on the benefits by promoting and encouraging short…

Consumer behavior is defined in a variety of ways such as “the dynamic interaction of affect and cognition, behavior and environmental events by which human beings conduct the exchange aspects of their lives.” by the American Marketing Association. (2008). In a simpler form, consumer behavior can be explained as the actions of consumers and the different approaches a person may take to decide what to buy and the decision making process. The decision making process can be effected by many factors all related to a person or persons lifestyle. Determining that behavior can be confusing and marketers need to use research techniques to understand the consumer. Understanding the intent to buy, buying process and post purchase issues from a marketing perspective raises many questions and is an in-depth process. “The basic marketing concept hold’s that firms exist to satisfy consumers’ needs.” (2004, Solomon). Once that basic concept is understood, an organization can focus on key goals to achieve a competitive advantage. Marketing strategies are used to gain better understanding of the market, consumers, environment, supply and demand and competition. The behaviors of consumers such as personality, emotions, attitudes, learning style, and perception of the consumer helps companies design their marketing techniques. External influences are also need to be studied and factors such as culture and sub-culture, demographics, social status, and family structure helps understand the decision making process of the consumer’s behavior. For marketing strategy to succeed, the insight to the consumer’s decision-making process is a good starting point.…

The duties of motherhood vary by culture, family, and the needs of each individual child. However, most agree that mothers have some of the most fundamental jobs of humanity. They are to provide safety and nourishment for their children. This entails making seemingly important decisions to be sure their child is safe and well cared for. Choosing whether to breastfeed or formula feed is one of the first decisions a woman will make regarding her baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) joins other organizations such as the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) in recommending breastfeeding as the best source of nourishment for babies because it helps defend against infections, prevents allergies, and protect against a number of chronic conditions. This leads us to question why the U.S. has one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding among industrialized countries and one of the highest rates of infant mortality in the world. Perhaps we can attribute these stigmas to the fact that companies such as Nestle, Mead Johnson Nutrition Company, and Abbott Laboratories have implemented a plethora of aggressive marketing strategies to appeal to new mothers in order to sell their products. These companies dwell on the overall shift from nature to science to promote their products despite…

Breast milk is widely accepted to be the ideal nutritional choice for babies during their first year. However, many parents, for any number of reasons, do not choose to breastfeed at birth. And of those who do choose to breastfeed initially, 78% stop doing so by the time their baby is six months of age.1 These families are faced with having to choose an infant formula. Any trip to a local grocery can prove how difficult a task this can be. The questions these parents most likely would ask would be: is one formula better than another? Does brand name matter? Does "new and improved" or "enhanced" formula mean better? Are infant formulas really a safe and nutritious choice for feeding babies?…

For many years mothers have been told that breastfeeding their children is ideal, that it is in the best interest of them as well as their children and will not be regretted. However there is not much insight as to why. Why is breastfeeding so ideal? The main reason for this is the positive effects breastfeeding has in early childhood, even into adult life.. Breast milk “contains many complex proteins, lipids and carbohydrate” (Andreas, N. J., Kampmann, B., & Mehring Le-Doare, K. (2015)) as well as many enzymes, vitamins and more complex nutrients. Formula does not contain near all the nutrients that breast milk does, which is why breastfeeding is more effective at preventing many diseases and illnesses.…

Today more women are working outside the home and formula feeding seems to be faster and more flexible, and hostility towards breastfeeding has been adapted. Those who choose to breast feed are looked down upon, and more often than not, breast feeding in public is not an option for them. Although it is seldom, women are even seen in the news for causing negative reaction to breastfeeding in public. The breast has become sexual symbol. People view the breast as erotic and women and are usually viewed through the never ending desire of men. This has implanted the idea that women's breasts exist solely for the purpose of pleasure to others, and not for the purpose of providing nourishment to their young. When people see a woman breastfeeding, their reaction is usually awkwardness and distaste because our society has accepted the idea that the breast is sexual and not reproductive. This trend in not using the female breast as infant nourishment needs to be reversed. It has been thought that formula is nutritionally equal to breast milk and has been endorsed by the Pediatric community since the 1950's, but this is not the case. There are several reasons why breast milk is healthier. Breast milk contains over four-hundred nutrients that cannot be recreated in a laboratory. These nutrients are essential to the healthy production and growth of babies. In fact, the caloric density, protein, carbohydrates, and fat in breast milk changes with…

The principal issue for me in this case was the educations and the manage of information, every country has different educational and cultural conditions and therefore Nestle made a mistake in advertising their product in the same way in developed and developing countries. Nestle could made educational practices before expose their product specially in developing countries in which the education for the mothers is not good enough and the hygiene conditions are not the same. They should predicted that and with a professional health support educated the mothers first and then advertise the product making sure that they are going to have the knowledge and make the correct use of their product and that way they could help to educated them not only with breast feeding they can traded another issues for example the VIH and the hygiene illness and how to prevent them.…
