Milk Persuasive Speech
For most singers, they have the tendency to rely on the internet to find a remedy or ideas that can help them cure their voice problems fast. Or they go to a friend, who strobly believe that they have found the right beverage or mixed drink that can help them with their vocal needs. Whether it’s a sore throat before a big show, having a head cold, or having that little tickle in the back of your throat that won’t go away, there always seems to be something out in the world that can help singers and performers with vocal problems. With endless ideas of vocal cures and new innovations, we can never truly tell what the perfect solution to heal our voices is. As professional singers, we like to put a great deal of strain on our voices, singing to much, giving the best performance of your life, etc. It's imperative to take care of the vocal cords and avoid as much damage as possible. To keep your voice sounding its best, there …show more content…
Milk, and a good majority of other dairy products, is the number one cause of phlegm build up in singers, and phlegm is every singer’s worst enemy because the more you drink milk, the more phlegm is built up and can increase the production of mucus which affects the sound of the voice. Milk contains lactic acid which produces more phlegm, and thus make you strain while singing. Milk does not directly cause vocal chord damage. Milk can lead to excess mucus production though which can interfere with your ability to speak and sing as efficiently It sticks to the back of your throat and nasal cavity requiring you to clear your throat when you are singing. Sometimes phlegm can cause your voice to sound as if it is cracking; which is actually your air breaking through the phlegm at the back of your throat. The high fat content in dairy products thickens the mucous that is already present in a person’s airway, making it seem like there is more phlegm to deal

So if you're a working mother, you certainly won't find the idea of feeding your child formula encouraging when you're away working. And it doesn't even have to be about working in an office. When signing up to be an organ donor you usually think only your major organs will be used; however, something as small as a ligament of yours is used in popular surgeries such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions. When someone tears their ACL they usually have a choice to have an autograft, or use one of their own ligaments, but they can also choose to have an allograft, or take a cadaver’s ligament to repair it. Each has it’s advantages and disadvantages, but I personally think that the better option is the allograft because I think the advantages are better than using your own ligament from another part of your body. The advantages consist of faster operative time, less post-operative pain, and a faster recovery time.…

Most college students would have the same thought process as you. They would immediately say "no way! I love my soda", this is unfortunately how the majority of America is like. If we are to change, we have to really put forth the effort for more than a day. A lot of people actually know of the risks of drinking soda but they don't do anything about it, most people treat it as if it's nothing until they start getting signals. People need to start seeing that other campuses and businesses are removing soda from their buildings as a red flag as you said. If it has been a concern for so long and such a big concern that businesses are starting to remove it, it means it's probably really bad for you. I feel like our best solution is to slowly back…

For many school-aged singers, the choral director is the only significant source of professional instruction and advice they willever receive about their voice. The choral director is their first line of defense for vocal health. A conductor's skill at diagnosis of vocal faults must be matched by a willingness to refer students to the proper health care professional. This is a copy of a handout presented to students in choral conducting and vocal pedagogy classes at Radford University. In addition to the sources cited in the bibliography, and my own experience, this material is drawn from the work of Van Lawrence, M. D., Otolaryngology and Paul Brandvik.…

Good vocal health, of general interest to everyone, is a vital concern to the professional voice user, singers in particular. The voice is a precious commodity which cannot be replaced when worn out or damaged; therefore prevention can be the most important aspect of vocal hygiene. Vocal experts offer detailed suggestions for maintaining good vocal health and preventing serious vocal problems. Stemple states that people who make professional use of their voice must take special care to avoid risks to general health of the entire body as well as to the laryngeal mechanism, for the well-being of the voice is dependent on the well-being of the whole body.1 Brodnitz believes that among professional voice users the singer, above all, must practice intelligent hygiene, for the singer's profession requires the highest degree of specialization in the use of the voice.2 Unfortunately, as Stemple states, "the lifestyles of many professional voice users are not compatible with the maintenance of a healthy larynx. Not only may these lifestyles create vocal abuse and emotional stress, but they may also lead to less than adequate physical health."3 Luchsinger and Arnold further advise the professional actor or singer that psychological and physical conditions which concern everyone affect them to an even greater extent; and that singers, whose occupation requires a major form of physical activity, should preserve their health through temperance in every respect.4 The reviewed sources agree that professional voice users must attend to physical fitness and nutrition, prevention and prompt care of illnesses and allergies, environmental conditions, and speaking and singing habits.…

PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

PERSUASIVE SPEECH OUTLINE SAMPLE - MOTIVATED SEQUENCE PATTERN By Fui Oili (with modifications made by S. Pastor) TITLE: Vacation in Hawaii GENERAL PURPOSE: To persuade SPECIFIC PURPOSE (GOAL): To persuade my audience to choose to take a vacation to the neighbor islands before taking a vacation out of the state or country. GENERAL IDEA: Visitors come from all over the world to experience the beauty and adventure of Hawaii. However, many local residents haven’t had the opportunity to experience all that our islands have to offer. Instead of always travelling to the mainland for vacations, Hawaii residents should first experience the uniqueness of vacationing right here on a neighbor island. INTRODUCTION (Attention Step) I. (Attention getter): Over the PA system the agent announced the arrival of United flight 93 arriving from Los Angeles, California. I waited at the baggage claim entrance where I stood there holding my lei and sign with the names of the visitors I was to greet from their flight. As the people started to flow out of the doors I called out, “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams”, all the while thinking about what I was going to cook for dinner and wondering what my kids were doing. When the visitors finally arrived, I was quickly brought back to my reality as I greeted each one with a lei and I said, “Aloha, welcome to Kauai.” With excited smiles on their faces they thanked me and told me how excited they were to be in Hawaii and how they couldn’t wait to start their vacation. The thing that really hit me was when they said, “You are so lucky you live in Hawaii!” Immediately I was reminded of how true that statement is. It’s ironic that it took a visitor from another part of the world to remind me that yes, Hawaii is an amazing place to explore, even for those of us who already live here. (Reveal Topic): This morning, I’d like to encourage all of you to seriously consider taking your next vacation on any of our Hawaiian islands instead of travelling out of…

When I was younger I always thought that I would just wake up one day and I would be “grown up”, by grown up I don’t mean a certain age or height, but a time in your life when you have to be older and more mature than the people below you, to set a good example for them. That day never really seemed to come, even though I was the same age as some of my childhood heroes like Nick Freer, Steve Hicks and Shane Teirney when they were covering the front page of the Herald Palladium, I didn’t feel like what they looked like when I was younger, at least not until a couple of months ago. I was going to basketball after school just like every other day last spring and after we shot for a little bit and then we chose teams for a few open gym games, and a seventh grader that I had never seen before was picked and ended up being on my team. I had never seen this kid before so I went over and asked him what his name was and he said “Conner” and so I introduced myself only to be given a look of dumbfoundedness, at first I wasn’t sure why but then Conner said “well everyone knows who you are”. I was taken back again and then realized how big of a deal going to the Breslin was, not just for everybody on my team, but for every young “Michael Welch” out there who ever idolized the players of a great team. After feeling incredibly cocky and good about myself I started to realize what a responsibility and privilege it was to have a large group of young boys looking up to me and trying to be “like Mike”. It is a responsibility because I have to set a good example for all those kids who would probably rather do what is say or do than what their own parents might say or do just as I would have done when I was younger. That is why it can be such a dangerous thing to be the idol of a child, because any temper tantrum or practical joke I do is a good example for that kid to do the same. Even though I may think that It’s okay for me but not for that kid or that I’m old enough to do something…
