Military Career Path
I was born and raised in Newark, NJ. No one in my family has ever been in any branch of service. I had always looked at the service as somewhere people go and die. I had not knowledge of how any branch of service worked, let alone the Army. I was an attending a community college in New Jersey, but I was not doing well. I had a couple good friends that joined the military but because I was not well educated on the benefits and all aspects of the Army, I never thought of it as one of my career paths. When I thought of a career I thought of a doctor, lawyer, police officers and other careers like the rest of the general public that are not well educated on the Army. I always thought the only way to get where I wanted to be, I had to go to college. One day I went to visit a friend of mine from high school and he was living the kind of life I didn't know you …show more content…
Prior to joining the Army I never thought it was possible to make it out of Newark New Jersey let alone go to a different continent. The Army has allowed me to see different parts of the world that I never knew existed. The Army has allowed me to live a life style that and gain experience I would have never gotten in the civilian sector. Ever since joining the Army I have been pushed and guided into continuing my education. I have continued to further my education while the Army pays for it. I have attained an Associated degree and currently working on my Bachelors degree all paid for by the United States Army. The only thing the Army does not pay for is my books and even my books are take care of by government assistance. Joining the greatest force in the world, the United States Army, is something I would never regret and I am very thankful for. Everyone is the United States of America can say they have freedom but not everyone can say they are the reason an American can say they have

I enlisted in the continental army because I want freedom. My cousin told me about his experience in the Boston Tea Party. He told me how he threw all the tea into the harbor. Altho it was a surprise to me that when I decided to enlist for the army I was sent to Pennsylvania and froze nearly half to death. The time I spent there was treacherous, there were terrible sights. There were sick all around me, some died, but most deserted. Many, such as the government, thought of General Washington as…

I attended Western Kentucky University for one and a half years, following graduation from Allen County Scottsville High School, while there I attended the ROTC program. I learned so much about Army tactics and how to lead men and women through most situations. I was approached about the SMP (Simultaneous Membership Program) contract by a very motivated and charismatic recruiter named SGT Bradley while going through the ROTC program. I was very much interested in becoming an officer for the Army at that time.…

Getting an education in my opinion is the most vital part of serving this country. Without it there would be no jobs because people would not know how to start a business and people would not get hired because they would not know what they were doing. So it makes no difference weather or not someone is in high school or out working a job; they are still serving their country.…

The first time military language was introduced to me was the unforgettable day of June 29th, 2009 in the unforgivable heat of southern Texas at Lackland AFB. While 99% of my senior class was off having a last hoorah before they went off to college, I was getting told to get on my face and do pushups till my arms fall off by a man so huge, the earth shook beneath his feet. I was hundreds of miles away from home, and it suddenly hit me for what I had gotten myself into. Over the next two months I would have my views on life be changed almost on a weekly basis by what was going on around me.…

I didn’t know my father was a soldier because I never saw him wear a uniform. It was only later that I realized why, my father was assigned with the PAF Intelligence and we were not really properly indoctrinated about the nature of his job. Later in life when I was around seven years old, I had that first glimpse of my dad wearing his olive green Battle Dress Attire leaving and coming home with the same uniform. From then on I knew that my father is a soldier and maybe that was also the start of my subconscious influence in military life.…
