Military Cac Card Research Paper
The military issued personal identification card,and cac card, are a very important thing. There are many things that you have to do in the military that require you to have one on your person at all times. Things such as going to chow; you have to approach the gate guard and present him with your cac card so he can verify that you are authorized to eat in the chow hall. Then when you enter the chow hall you must scan your cac card into the computer that way they can keep a head counrt of how many people go into the chow hall. Also you need your cac card to enter almost any building on the FOB. If you try to enter the PX another guard ask to see your id. If you cant present him with your id then you cant go into the px to make purchaces. Also another problem I encountered was I lost my whole wallet with the ID so I had to try and go to finance to get some money for things I needed for stuff on deployment. …show more content…
Also the cac card has a chip inside. This chip allows you to log into your army knowledge online account and gain access to all your military information. You need your cac card for important military events such as a urinalysis screaning , otherwise your comander has to come down and prove your who you say you are. Also the cac card is a part of the geneva convention act. With the card it proves I am a united states soldier. So that means if I am captured as a prisinor of war the id tells the people who captured me how to treat me according to the geneva rules.Being as the cac card is an accountable item you can run into a whole other load of problems. These problems are to include some corrective training. NCO’s don’t like It much when you need to have your cac card on you and you don’t because it can only come down on them from

    Those that are for CQ to stay the way it is say that it is a necessary duty. There wouldn’t be a CQ if there wasn’t a need for it.     Accountablitly and how it has a roll in the Army. One type of accountability is personal item accountability for instance your wallet and ID. As a PFC and in the Army for almost 2 years i know how important accountablitly of personal items are and expecally possible security risk items.According to AR735-5 Army property is considered as follows; Army property is all property under the control of the Department of the Army (DA) except property accounted for as owned by a nonappropriated fund (NAF) activity. It must be accounted for on a property account unless specificallyexempted by an AR. Property leased by an Army activity is considered Army property for accounting purposes.Property loaned to a non-Army activity remains Army property. Real property accounts for all assets on the installation regardless of who funded the construction or pay for sustainment (except privately owned) will be reflected in the installation real property inventory.Property built by NAF, Air Force, and Navy are considered tenants on the installation and will be reflected as such in the inventory (see Security risk items can be any of the following: CAC card ID, SIPR tokens, DAGRs, used Hard Copy paper,ect.     The tags we use today originated in World War 1, and the purpose was that soldiers feared dying and being forgotten, so they created aluminum tags two of them, one to be taken when the soldier dies and the other to be left with the body, for easy identification.     I do not agree with the reinstitution of a military draft. In 1973 the military draft was lifted in the United States and with good reason. The United States should not rely on a draft to fill military vacancies but rely on recruitment.     Since losing my military identificstion card I have learned that nothing good can come of losing my military id. Theres several major issues to losing a military identification card, one of the biggest problems is the security threat it brings about. Since this card is no longer in my possession who knows who could have gotten ahold of it, if it were to come into the hands of the wrong person, said person would be able to have access to almost any military installation, they would have access to any government computer or network, having access to that would give them an opportunity to steal any information relating to anything that couldn’t threaten national security. Having my military identification card would also give them access to all my personal information, medical information, and anything else they would need to commit identity theft against me. Losing my military ID also poses a problem in my everyday work routine. Since I no longer have my military ID it’s a huge hassle just to get to work and than to also get back home since I have to go through base security in order to go to either place.
