The article states that although Microsoft Word® is not a desktop publishing program- like Adobe Photoshop®- one can still to combine text and graphics easily- it can, however, be used in a pinch or instead of purchasing a costly program. (Nott, 2008) By creating, a “canvas,” one has several options available on what type of content can be inserted; for example, one can include bitmapped images like a screenshot, create various drawing that can be moved individually, and insert files rather than paste them. In addition to these uses, the main use of creating a canvas in Word documents is for annotating a picture with a callout. This is an option I think most businesses or students will be using for their documents.…

The rectangle shaped platform at the top of the typewriter is called a paper table or a carriage. The paper table and paper finger, a small piece of metal, help make the paper on the letter printing machine secure. The carriage release lever is a lever located on the left of the typewriter that shifts the paper table to the right to start a new line. The type bars push against a ribbon held together by spools, which then leaves a print on the paper. A ribbon spool is strip of fabric, commonly polymer that is covered in a pigment. Finally, the keyboard consists of keys that have letters and punctuation marks. The typewriter had the first ever keyboard where the keys were put in the QWERTY order. All of these different parts helped make the typewriter a modern invention in the…
