Michelle Obama
Michelle Obama the wife of the U.S President Barack Obama. She is the first African American to become the first lady of the United States. The daughter of Fraser and Marian Robinson. Mother of two beautiful, intelligent young ladies Natasha, and Malia. She has only one sibling and that’s her brother Craig Robinson. Michelle has done so much over her life time with programs in the community, and in our nation. She is dedicated to help young people. You know growing up in the Southside of Chicago wasn’t that easy. That was a community that didn’t support anyone, or even try to make a difference in the community. Michelle was different she gives back to her community where she grew up at. In 1996, she helped the University of Chicago to develop a community program to get students, and the community involved with the program. In 2012 she took another job as the executive director of community affairs at the medical center. When she was younger, she use to stay right by the University of Chicago Medical Center, and they never did anything with the community. When she started working at her new job, she begun several program that will reach out to the poor neighborhood by the hospital. Given them an opportunity to be seen at the medical center without having to worry about insurance, or leaving an not being able to get your prescription refilled, because there wasn’t no money to pay for it. Increasing community clinics, improving staff diversity, even help recruit minority doctors to the medical …show more content…
She also “started a program to get resident to use health clinic instead of emergency rooms” (Michelle Obama 2009, pg.3). Michelle also had moved in a (1.6 million) home in the neighborhood she was raised in, being able to focus her concerns in the community. In 2008-2009, Michelle husband Mr. Obama was elected for president of the U.S and then had to start getting ready to move into the White House, where she brought her mom there to stay with the family as well. Mrs. Obama made it known to everybody that she will keep working with the communities’, and spend her time volunteering as well. She has become a role m model as a fashion icon, even winning the “Woman of the year in 2009 in the Essence Magazine” (Michelle Obama, pg.6). She focused her attention on helping women balance their lives, and working with military families. She even made stops by the public school, making the key point on education. The program let’s move is to help with childhood obesity. This program is to help school provide healthier foods, helping kids to become more active in their daily routine. Just to help everyone provide support in their children to have a healthy living. Michelle also, helped Jill Biden launch the joining forces program, which makes sure that the military families, or getting the tools they need to support their daily living.
