Michael Leet Idiosyncrasy: Personal Narrative Essay
Claire, Yesterday, I had the great idea that becoming penpals would be a really cool way to learn more about you. Unfortunately, the second you said yes I am “DTPP” I knew I had nothing to write about! Anyways, since I am new to this bear with me.
I figured that an interesting way to break the ice in our first letter would be to tell you about the weirdest Michael Leet Idiosyncrasies. The first thing that comes to mind when I think Michael idiosyncrasy is that when I shower I sit downcrisscross apple sauce, I never stand, except in public showers. Another interesting idiosyncrasy that I have (actually just recently ceased) is I only get a haircut once a year. I would start the year with a buzzed head and would end the year with hair down to my shoulders. Lastly, I rarely wear socks with my shoes. I am 99% sure that a sock gremlin steals every single pair of my socks so I never have any to wear. I would really love to learn some of your goofy idiosyncrasies if you have any!

My mother is ex-professional/world class runner and my dad is just a typical business man who enjoys racing dirt bikes, hiking, mountain biking, and goofing off on the weekend. Many of my weekend growing up were spent together doing some form of action sport or outdoor thing. Also it is worth mentioning that I have one younger sister named Jenny but we never really got along too much because she did not share the same interest as I did. As far as extended family goes I do not really have any near my house in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, so it is rare that we see extended family. The closest extended family that I have is in Eau Claire Wisconsin, so closer to your neck of the woods. What did your up-bringing look like? How big is your

My insider/outsider partner was Alicia Garcia. As you can tell by her last name she is Hispanic. I don’t have many Hispanic friends and I am not use to their culture. Starting on the project Alicia told me a little a bit about her heritage. One of the things I asked her was, “Do you celebrate the day of the dead?” I know that might seem like a crazy question to ask, but I the only thing that I truly knew about her culture is what I seen on TV. Alicia said that they do celebrate it to some extent. They don’t actually go to a grave site and light candles for their fallen relatives, but instead have a feast in honor of them. Alicia is the first generation American Hispanic.…

From the stretching of the skin to the sudden movement I have never felt before. It was all a new experience, but the feeling was indescribable. After a restless night, the sunrise appeared before I knew it. The pain was unbearable, but after several hours and a couple of good pushes you were here. I was extremely exhausted, but the relief was absolutely amazing. At first sight I fell in love with you. Not for how you look, just for who you are. I never thought I could feel affection like this. I have faced many trials in my life: emotionally, mentally, and physically, etc. In my youth, my family and I moved every couple of years because my father serves in the Army. Each move introduced new challenges and adjustments. I have lived in five different states, but six different cities. I constantly had to learn how to readjust to my new environment. Moving taught me how to adapt socially , but always starting out as “the new girl” or an “outsider” was burdensome. Repeatedly leaving people I cared about hurt me emotionally, but I also knew that I couldn’t linger in my feelings or else I would miss out on other life opportunities. In order to overcome the feeling of being an outsider, I joined school clubs, participated in extracurricular activities such as soccer and track, and volunteer at church.…

What I saw didn’t shock me one bit due to growing up with two brothers and three sisters who had prepared me for situations like this. My parents are very sexual and most of my culture supports a liberal way of thinking. Therefore, my background, childhood, and where I grew up plays an important role in my sexual development, my views and believes.
