Mi Gente Song Analysis
Song Paragraph (Mi Gente)

One of the songs I chose is named “Mi Gente”, which is an Urban Latin/pop song which is frequently played at South-American parties (From personal experience). Mi Gente is an upbeat song which happens to be in the top 20 songs in Canada. I feel this song relates to me on a personal level in multiple ways. For instance, listening to the song with no meaning other than to enjoy the song, it would probably sound pleasant or delightful. Though if you examine the lyrics thoroughly, you will uncover the deeper meaning (one example being “From corner to corner, but I have it in my hand”). This song exemplifies me because maybe the first couple times you meet me, I might seem calm or ordinary, but if you really

This treaty , amongst other things, assigned guilt to Germany for starting the First World War and , under duress compelled it to pay reparations to the victorious allied nations and , in addition it lost terrorises and populations. My song order is based on the chronological order of the book. Since Bechdel spread out certain events through multiple chapters, I did my best to follow along in order. However, certain events that are discussed in a song may have been brought up earlier in the book than in the playlist. Bechdel’s chapters are very broad and although each one has a main topic, they branch out into other ones as well. This is what I tried to do with the playlist. I also tried to keep what I thought were the key points of the graphic novel spread throughout the playlist. For example, her father’s death is focused on in more than one song, as it is focused on in more than one chapter in the graphic…

I wanna be contigo, and live contigo, and dance contigo, para have contigo, una noche loca”. This is the chorus to Enrique Iglesias’ billboard hit, Bailando. If you listen to the song you can hear the rhythm of reggae, hip hop, Spanish flamenco, reggaeton among a cacophony of other sound. I hear beauty, see color and feel joy when I listen to this song. The success of this song according to Gary Trust, associate director of charts is due to “the fact that a quarter of this country’s youths are Latino. He comments that the market is so diverse that Latino artists don’t have to pick just one language or two.…

I enjoy listening to this song anyways as it is in my native language and one of my top childhood songs. The song is about a couple who is in love with each other but when the guy has to leave for the US, they broke up. He later returns and the love is still there. This is a very cute story and I love singing the lyrics that describes his feelings for her as he was away. If I broke up and get back together with my boyfriend, I would want this to be our scenario, that we broke up and got back together because of distance or circumstances, not because we wanted this. I also love how there are english lyrics sung with deep emotion in the song: “I will be back for you.” The music video for the song is also very heartwarming and brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. If I got back together with my ex, I could listen to this song to remind me of my feelings for him. This song is a great song that evokes strong emotions from me and makes me think about love and how strong it is to overcome lots.…

    Song Representation

The song I chose to represent Creon is Pray by Sunny Hill. The song pray fits Creon because in several lines of lyrics fit regret and guilt of what Creon had done. A couple of the lines from the song related to Creon asking for Tiresias help but then not liking the answer, for example "Someone told me to pray to dream, that it will come true no matter what it is. Tell me everything- look at me and tell me, tell me to please stop." Inside Creon knew Tiresias was right telling him that punishing Antigone was the wrong thing to do, but Creon was to late to stop and realize his mistakes. Just like in the lyrics, Creon wants to know the prediction but also does not want to know in case he made a mistake. Other lyrics in this song represent Creon at the end of the play. "The sighs sound cruel and harsh. but I can't hear anything- no sound of salvation, I pray and I cry out for someone to save me. It gets worse and worse the more I grieve for you, cry for me and I'm sorry." These lyrics represent Creon after both his wife and son kill themselves. They describe how guilty and heartbroken he is about their deaths and how it will only get worse with time.…

The madrigal is a distinctive type of secular song that originated in Italy. It was an aristocratic form of poetry and music that flourished at small Italian courts. In the piece, Cruda Amarilli, Monteverdi uses many musical devices that are typical of a madrigal. The lyrics in this song are repeated, the music accompanies the text in interesting ways, and there is a wide range of vocal notes. After listening to the piece just once you can immediately feel the unrequited love Monteverdi is displaying through his words and music. The music and instrumentation in this piece aid the voices to establish form and mood through word painting. He uses word painting and cadences to develop a theme of unrequited love.…

Lieder ohne Worte (Song without Words) is written by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is a collection of forty-eight short lyrical piano pieces of markedly song-like character that he wrote at various periods of his life between 1809 and 1847. They are well suited to the study of musical form because of their artistic value. Op. 19b, No. 1 Andante con moto in E major was written in 1830 and is the first in the collection. The piece is in the key of E major and modulates from E to B to G major.…

In The Song of Songs, the Shulamite and her lover are everything but what society conforms to. In their Hebrew society there are rules and restrictions pertaining to sexual relations and who is allowed to marry who. These rules are stated in the book of Deuteronomy, and if the citizens do not abide by the laws written in the book, the punishments were harsh and brutal. However, the Shulamite and her lover seemed to be living in their own world where they could not care less about what society thought of them. In this poem, The Shulamite and her lover break many laws, and in most cases, desire seems to be considered a higher law to them than anything written in Deuteronomy.…

We are destined to die since we are born. There are no exception, no one can avoid it. However, we often forget we are going to die, besides we don't enjoy talking about it for the fear over the unknown world after death and sorrow over the separation with the people and world. Furthermore we wish not to die and also regard that avoiding death or living longer as long as possible is good luck. But there are two poets who show the different attitude toward death. One is Emily Dickinson and the other is Whitman. "712" by Emily Dickinson and “From Song of Myself ” by Walt Whitman both express a similar perspective on death. Dickinson tells death is a gentle companion that is always with us since our birth. Whitman says simply that death is part of nature and we are…
