(10 points) The Food and Drug administration controls the act. This interests me because I believe all tobacco products should have better oversight and warning labels. E-cigarettes are not viewed as a health concern, despite releasing vapor which contains carcinogens. This proposed action is step closer for the FDA to gain more control on how all tobacco products are made and distributed, especially in regards to better warning labels. The proposal will not affect me. 2. Describe the proposal/change. (10 points)
The proposal wants to deem products meeting the definition of “tobacco product,” to be subject to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the FD&C Act), as amended by the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (Tobacco Control Act). The FDA wants to extend the Agency's “tobacco product” authorities to all other categories of products, except accessories. The FDA also wants to extend the Agency's “tobacco product” authorities to all other categories of products, except premium cigars. This includes E-cigarettes. Finally, the FDA is proposing to prohibit the sale of “covered tobacco products” to individuals under the age of 18 and to require the display of health warnings on tobacco products under their control. The FDA is taking this action to address the public health concerns associated with the use of tobacco products....
